Trey Lyles has not done better so far in his career.

I know he's only been there for two years, but I thought he would be producing more than he has so far.

I was hoping like hell we was coming back for a sophomore season. He would have been the inside presence we were sorely lacking in the 15-16 season.

I haven't seen him play since he's been in the NBA, but can someone fill me in on why he's not doing more? Just curious.

I haven't watched a lot of Utah this year, but I've heard/read that he just hasn't developed much this season and has regressed on offense. With Favors out for a bit, he had an opportunity, but he's been below average in every metric. Shooting 36.2% from the field (40% from 2!!!!) will do that to you.

Utah wants him to be a stretch 4, and so far, the shooting isn't there. He was taking 45% of his shots from 3, and only hitting 32%. And as someone else noted, even his non-3 point shooting wasn't good. He was consistently getting 15-20 mpg for about the first 60 games, but Utah dropped him out of the rotation at the end of the year.

He'll probably end up somewhere else. He's still only 21, he has a good NBA body, and he was pretty good as a rookie. Don't think he's athletic enough to ever be any kind of force in the league, but he can be a solid player if he can find a consistent jump shot.
