What is your mindset today? Never played a down of organized football in my life, so I'm wondering what you're left with after attending last night when considering UK?

They saw a team building an SEC defense and needing help on offense to compete in the SEC. The offensive guys see playing time and the defensive guys see a chance to be part of something good. That is how I would sell it if I were recruiting.

Honestly, having watched Kentucky for 45 seasons, we are getting closer to the middle of the pack of the SEC than we have in a long while. Sure we have holes, but last two games, clearly were not just overwhelmed physically by SEC teams, like we have been so many other seasons.

New stadium (which was packed early last night), and a team that appears to be on the rise. I think Kentucky is a program to buy, rather than sell.

We weren't overwhelmed physically by the UF's D Line? What game were you watching?

Agree on the rest of your post. Hopefully.

If I'm a quality OT, I know I can come to Kentucky and start as a true freshman.

I saw the same thing you saw, but also saw where we held past two SEC teams to 36 points, and last night held Florida to less than 250 yards, a figure they have gained in one quarter against us in other years. And were in the game until the end against USC and UF, won one and lost one.

That being said, I stated we still have holes, and obviously, OT is a pretty big one.

What does that say about a Florida team that can only score 14 against us and a few years ago were winning national titles?

Recruits understand better than fans do when teams are rebuilding. A lot of them see the opportunity for early playing time as a plus. Obviously, you never really want to put true freshmen into the line of scrimmage, particularly the O-line, but when the o-line is as bad as UK's it's sometimes necessary. UK has a lack of depth at nearly every position on the roster except WR so a lot of players are looking at that believing they can get into early games.

They also see an energetic fan base and a nice stadium. I like where UK's program is right now. I think it's at a better place than its been in my life. Even if Stoops ultimately ends up not being the right guy for the job (I think he is) he will still leave a program better than he found it, with better players, better facilities, and a better chance of winning for whoever replaced him. It would be easier to get a quality coach now than in 2012.

If I was an offensive line recruit, especially a tackle, and if I was comparing playing opportunities at Kentucky to other P5 schools, I would run not walk to give Stoops a commitment. If I was a defensive recruit, I would have noticed that Stoops is starting 7 seniors and a junior on his defense. If I was a wide receiver, I would be a little concerned about so many freshman and sophomore receivers already on the team.

Agree to a point BD but the WRs are still a question mark to me. Too many drops, some still not getting off the LOS, poor blocking, etc. This group is highly thought of but really needs to step up their game to match the hype IMO.

recruits don't worry so much about the win or loss to a certain extent, its more about relationships with coaches and how they fit in on campus.

Talented freshman and sophomore receivers become skilled junior and senior receivers. I have never seen a receiver that hasn't dropped a pass. Everyone is upset today because we lost, so everything is getting blown out of proportion. Our receivers are a major team strength. Take Dorian Baker for example. Dorian has dropped a couple of passes, but he is going to become a great receiver. He is already a good blocker. If I was a receiver prospect looking at Kentucky now, I would look at all of our freshman and sophomore receivers and I wouldn't sign with Kentucky unless I was sure that I want a redshirt. On the other hand, if I was a defensive prospect, I would see playing time up for grabs because we start 7 seniors and a junior on our defense.
