If (really big if, I know) we hang #9 this year...

Now I'm not saying it's likely that we'll win it all this year, but I do think we're in the running and it could happen if the tournament works out perfectly, but if we did hang #9 this year what do you think the odds of winning it all two years in a row would be?

We're almost certainly going to have a monster team next year; I think if we did win this year it'd be hard to slow down our momentum and keep us from winning it again.

Discuss?

We thought we would win it last year and it didn't happen. Maybe this year where we doubt we win it all, and we do! That's what makes college basketball fun. Now, I don't see it myself unless we get a really productive big man. When Lee and others have played well, we are a better team. But, an opponent with a big front line of talent would seem to be a challenge eventually for us. When things get tight especially during the tournament that is what you see happen offensively (such as last year continually going to KAT). We are still missing that element. Of course, we could luck out with match-ups. Duke has won twice when we should have especially with the Wall team. They got better match-ups and got to even face Wisconsin last year two days after they were in a tight rough game with us.

Less pressure this year. Cal and his teams seem to do better in me against the world scenarios. Even his umass and memohis teams

Our guard play can get us far. Especially if they hold refs to calling freedom of movement Supposedly they will get to ref tourney games in how well they did with new rules. That could be huge for our guards. I know I know believe it when i see it.

Anything is possible but two in a row is such a rare happening under just about any circumstances, of course this does not include the UCLA era and their shenanigans, because of the many variables involved and the one loss and you're done format; very small margin for error, especially as a team moves deeper into the tournament.

Cal will win 1-2 more here as I believe he is here for at least 5 more years so it is possible but who knows . I doubt we repeat though regardless . Maybe we win it this year and the underachieve next year or maybe we make the final 4 and lose and then next year have a 38-2 type season and win it all. I fell confident though we will win 1 title over the next 2 seasons.

I can see this. Get all the way there. Great run for this team. Lose then a few come back like jones and lamb did.
Take me down next year. I would be happy

Actually, if Ulis returned next year (don't think he will, but if) and with the recruits coming on board, we would likely be the clear favorites with Duke a distant second. I also wonder if Giles next year may be this year's Skal. Not playing competitively for a year makes one wonder.

I know it's off topic but did anybody think Kentucky at least had a chance to win it all in 98? I was 8 so I don't remember what I thought.

We have as good a chance as anybody, there are a lot of teams that are down and not many that are great. whoever is playing the best will win it

Good lord I'm not even letting myself think about Ulis returning along with the crazy talent we have coming in.
