I tried i really did. But i cant lie. Womens

It's hard to get into because we all 100% know who will win the title in 2016. There is no mystery, no hope of any surprising team winning. It is a boring sport due to that.

They are literally 50 years behind men's bball. Having a team do what UCLA did in the 1960s/very early 1970s in the 2010s/modern era is pretty awful for the sport.

makes you miss Pat Summitt; at least with her coaching at UT there was always a chance it wouldn't be UConn. Plus the rivalry between her and Geno was kinda fun

I will watch and support any UK team in any sport. I'd rather watch UK women's basketball than the NBA. But part of that is that I don't really have a rooting interest in any NBA team. I realize that I'm one of the few that would say that and that's fine. Just my opinion. But I like watching all levels of basketball.

Appreciate the shooting and team work , but The athleticism resembles a Jr high game .

to be clear - respect anyone who does watch and enjoy all levels of basketball.

Different game than men's. No defense, lots of lay ups in slow motion. I won't disparage it, but it's its own animal in the sports world.

I bet UConn will win it all this year.
I've never seen odds for the women and maybe they don't even exist because of interest in betting on the sport, but what would UCONN's odds be this year to win the title? It would far less than even money I imagine. probably something like 1/10.

If they field was 500/1 I might lay a bet on that but only about $10

It can be brutal to watch, especially when they fail with just the fundamentals of the game. But they play hard and I appreciate any athlete that does. That Dayton team they lost to last season was fun to watch, those ladies could shoot the 3.

I actually enjoy some women's games. If you appreciate good team basketball, passing, defense, play execution, etc, you can see that in a women's game pretty regularly. If you have fallen victim to the NBA and enjoy acrobatics more than basketball, then women's basketball is likely not for you.

I can say this with a good bit of confidence. Women's basketball has progressed a lot more than men's basketball over the last 4 decades. Men's basketball has gotten, perhaps, more athletic than it was. The execution has not progressed and may be somewhat less proficient. Women's basketball has progressed athletically. Their execution has made improvements by leaps and bounds.

I watch a good bit of basketball though. Greatest team sport ever invented. I rarely ever watch an NBA game, though. I don't really consider it high quality basketball. The individual athletes are fabulous. Their team skills. ehhhh, not so much.

And I watch the Lady Cats as well...was just saying earlier the sport as a whole is boring come post-season time unless you are fine with UCONN winning and go into each tourney expecting that and just enjoy the other more competitive games. The funny thing is UK can compete in the SEC now...in a great basketball conference, but none of these great teams the SEC has can beat the unfair machine of UCONN.

UCONN is like what UK would be if Cal had a team of in 2012-2013 (Our NIT team mind you) of:

PG: Senior Wall
SG: Junior Knight
SF: Soph MKG
PF: Soph Davis
C: Senior Cousins

With a bench of:

PG: Senior Bledsoe
SG: Junior Lamb
SF: Frosh Poythress
PF: Junior T Jones
C: Frosh Noel

EVERY YEAR

How is it unfair? Are you saying Geno cheats in recruiting? Saying its unfair makes you sound like IU or UL fans when they talk about Cal's recruiting advantages.

I have a rough version of a drinking game for women's ball.
  1. Drink once for every missed layup
  2. Drink twice for every airball
  3. Drink once for every time a girl falls on the ground (multiplied if numerous girls)
  4. Finish ur drink for every break away layup.
I'm in.

Basketball is the most frustrating throw the ball around thing ive ever seen. Sorry no way i can watch again

No one cares whether you watch or not. I like the womens game and love to watch. You can not compare the womens game to the mens game. I had a daughter that played several years and loved watching her and her team play. It is what it is. The Kentucky women have beat Louisville the last five times they have played. It is so much fun knowing we own Louisville in all things BASKETBALL.

I'm with you. I realize the women's game is unique to say the least but UK's ladies are really good and I like to watch them on occasion. Probably not 'UConn good' but they look good. They smoked UL with Epps having a huge game. That girl plays her tail off.

Cal ain't winning 5 titles in 7 years either...playing field is still level as hell in men's. Unfair might be the wrong word to use but it is unrealistic to expect anyone to be able to compete with it year in and year out IMO.

Okay, but what would you suggest to change it?

If one likes, and understands, fundamental basketball the women's game might be for you. The women take better shots, use finesse instead of raw power and, more often than not, play better team ball. If you only appreciate strength, speed and leaping ability you will definitely miss the finer points of women's basketball.

Anyone who wants to discuss women's basketball on this board is fighting a losing battle. It goes from one extreme to the other.

It would be a good thing to start a rivals page for UK s women's basketball team. Probably draw a lot of members especially if the site had a beat writer.

I've enjoyed following the women's basketball team for awhile and this is a special team. A talented, unselfish, competitive team

of course we get a parent who had a daughter play get their panties in a bind. relax guy. I'm sure you enjoyed watching your daughter just like 90% of the crowd who probably had a family member playing.

sorry it's just hard to watch. of course I want UK to win. but most of you on here be honest , the only time you know they win is when you read it the next day.

maybe lower the goals I don't know. but to me it's like watching 8 th graders try to play. boy 8th graders I'm sorry

This is a stupid post. Why are we cutting down a group of kids that bust their butt. I haAve a daughter that played and they practice 3 hours a day and still make good grades.

OP, get a hobby. Something besides being hater.

Oh ya, these girls know a lot more about the technical aspects of the game than you. Way more

Lower the goals? Really? So all their lives these women have played on 10 foot goals and now all the sudden lower them to 9 feet?

are you serious guy? what I just watched had nothing to do with fundamental play. they may of been trying to use fundamentals, but the execution was missing. just stop. no way women's is more fundamental then men'smen's
