I think we can all agree Mark 'won the press conference' as they say

Not an important victory. If he losses people will not care about that. Of course IU would hang a banner

After the way Cal crapped on everyone, including media and ans, this was a huge win.

Her certainly did. The one thing I wish he’d done is thank all the previous coaches, including Cal, for their contributions to UK as he extended the invite to all the players too.

Yep. He understands the task ahead and understands UK is bigger than him. How can you not get behind him after that.

He didn’t mention rivalries or beating UofL. He understands the priority. SEC championships and National Championships.
Yep. I wouldn't mind if he took a UofL shot though, that's part of it too.

This was the best head coach introductory press conference I have ever watched. It just means more at UK and Pope crushed it. I will admit that I was disappointed that UK didn't go hard after BD. Having said that, I am glad that Pope is the coach and not BD.

We needed a coach who understands UK and what it means to put in that jersey. BD probably has that understanding, having been on Pitino staff here. I would have been solidly behind that hire too, but for some reason I feel like Pope is going to crush it here with all the resources at his disposal.

He did. He said every coach that's been Gere has contributed

I would have named them. Mark is a class guy and I think he’s going to do incredibly well here. Unlike some of Cal’s barbs thrown at UK/Barnhart, I think Coach Pope will continue to win and win back Cal’s players as he shows he’s about gratitude for both sides of the jersey. He is intentionally, like Pitino (and it was GREAT to hear him named and appreciated a lot), about winning for UK and shepherding players to achieve their best in whatever station they choose, from farming to finance, teaching to the NBA.

I apologize profusely I JUST READ THE THREAD SORRY MY BROTHER
All good. I'm exctied. But I'm also a realist.

The spirit is there. NOW, we have to foritfy the mind and body. And that's not a guarantee. But damn, we've got the culture change and will have to see what happens!

I'm optimistic!
