I still kind of prefer Thon Maker to Bolden...

2 things:
1.) I don't think Bolden is a particular physical presence down low, and I think we have enough physical big men for next year with Bam and another year, workouts, and weightroom with Tai and Humph.

2.) I prefer Thon's game since he's better defensively and more of a dynamic player. The amount of length and speed we would have with him, Wenyen, Bam, and SKJ would make us a more versatile team.

Now, I'm not sure where we stand with Thon or if as Cal put it last summer if "He's ready to be recruited". But that's my take.

Wynyard and Humphries aren't even capable of getting 5 minutes right now. No they are absolutely not enough for next year. No one improves that much in one off season

Well Tai, just got here and he's 17 yrs old

And Humph just turned 18.

Lol... all Freshman don't hit the ground running.

Cal has said he's only looking to add 1 more post player for next year, and all the tea leaves are pointing to Bolden being that big.

I'm not sure what happened with Thon's recruitment, but we weren't the only high profile school to back off which makes me think there is something sour with it. Not to mention, Cal seems to want Bolden and not want Thon (for whatever reasons).

I don't think you can go wrong with either, but I'd rather stick with the safe (in terms of NCAA) choice and go with Bolden.

With the recent news from Jones of Lee being able to graduate, I think he leaves and Skal stays. Hopefully Skal becomes a man practicing against Bam and Bolden everyday.

I saw that new ratings and didn't see Bolden anywhere in that top 15. Is there an explanation? Is it not playing? Well they put Giles as number one and he isn't playing.

He is at 16 on rivals so if you moved your eyes down one spot from 15 to 16 you would see him . He is top 10 in some , top 20 in others .Either way he is the low post scorer we need next year as Bam is not that. Also the OP delivers his usual insanity as Maker is the last thing we need as Maker fashions himself a SF and we need centers who can score. Bolden is very very similar to Randolph Morris and we would be a top 5 team this year with Morris . Hell with Dakari Johnson we would be top 5.

I watched Maker at Graves County last week he didn't seem all that interested in low post play. Was a very athletic looking kid with an outside game though. Must be a reason why Cal isn't recruiting him! Wonder if they think he is going over seas to play?

Go onto this board and look at the other recent posts, there is one listing the most recent ESPN updated ratings. Bolden is ranked 20. 20 is a great rating but it isn't top 15 as I said. Why? Are people here over-hyping him as often occurs? Don't get me wrong, I would love to get him. Plus we all should have learned the lesson from this season you can't always depend upon the ratings. .But, I am curious to what people here are seeing (and I mean observing not just reading about rankings) that the experts are not seeing.

"Usual insanity"?
I know Maker isn't a post player. And I stated as much. Lol
