Briscoe and Matthews are not getting much hype. Briscoe was the #1 PG in the nation (think about the past #1 PGs), and he seems to get no love. He lower his body fat and won a few 3 point contest over the summer, yet he seems to be overlooked due to Ulis and Murray.

Matthews had an injury late in his HS career and dropped in the rankings.

I really think both of these players will surprise a lot of people.

Matthews hype has actually been growing for weeks now. I wouldn't consider him underrated anymore..if anything, some people need to chill w/ the expectations out the gate for him.

Briscoe on the other hand, his declining hype has something to do w/ spotty play in the all-star circuit, Murray killing in the Pan-Ams + Ulis being beloved by everybody + Jalen Bunson great play w/ USAu18.

I love the improvements in his frame though. Showed out in the blue/white game as well.

I have no idea what your taking about on Briscoe. I guess everyone has opinions and thanks for proving the initial point.

Also, I don't think people need to "chill w/the expectations" of Matthews.

Im giving reasons why his hype has been going down. Whats so hard to comprehend? U add in all those factors & its easy to see how he's going under the radar.

Have u been reading posts/tweets about Matthews recently? Its gone from " man, he should've been a 5 star if he never got hurt"…to " He should be starting!! ".

I've been high on Matthews for a while. Though physically he reminds me of a taller Wayne Turner, I would describe his game as having the length and defensive intensity of DeAndre Liggins and a nose for the ball like Gerald Fitch. I don't think he's the shooter Fitch was but he may get there.

Briscoe is the uconn guard that always killed us. He's my favorite player on this squad.

Dude just finishes

He even looks a little like WT.

What about Ullis. Some have opined that he had a bad half in the blue/white scrimmage. He probabably got on this board and read the criticisms. If not, they were passed on to him by Cal's daughter. So anyway, now he's underrated due to some postings here and possibly being tired.
We should start a pep rally thread to boost his confidence. Also, Cal may be feeling down because sometimes we criticize Tubby. He may want to quit and go elsewhere.
These are not my brilliant opinions but some garnered from the, well, more mentally challenged on this board.

Mathews is going to be our 6 man you watch. He can bring some serious energy off bench. He is top 10 talent.

Matthews is going to surprise a lot of people. Some of us have been trying to tell people for some time. He may even start. I would not be surprised to see Briscoe coming off the bench so Ulis gets some rest. There would be no step off when he came in. they both could play even minutes. JMO

Briscoe is tough as nails. He'll be on the floor for the entirety of the last 5 minutes of every game in which the margin at 5 minutes is 10 points or fewer. Write it down.

I'd love to see Matthews start at the 3, and Briscoe come off the bench to spell Ulis or Murray.

Hawkins was playing well till he broke his hand, when he gets back there will be another guard in the mix.

Briscoe didn't win "a few" 3 point contests. He won "A" 3 point contest. Regardless, he's gonna be damn good and if he can keep his FT shooting over 70% he'll be an All-SEC player on one of the teams. Dude's gonna get fouled a ton the way he drives the ball.

Matthews could be a big surprise. Dude's all out effort and springy.
You have something sticking out of your butt. ...Wait....that's balls. I'm going to stop replying now about your avatar. Let's go back to the topic.

I agree on this a little. Briscoe is being underrated a bit. He's going to be really good. Prolly put up something like 13pts, 4ast, 3rbs. And he should be a mid to late first rounder. Mathews I'm really jacked about. He's going to surprise a lot of people. He wont start but he may be on the floor late for defense. Especially if we're going against a team with a stud SF. I expect Mathews to be our best player off the bench and put up something like 8-9pts.
