Of course I like him better when he loses to us. Winningest coach and 5 NCAA titles. After the game he complimented several UK players. Of Jamal Murray, he said "he's a man". On Ulis he said something like, "where God may have shorted him some on height, he made up with heart." OK, now you can blast me.

Not going to blast you but shouldn't this be posted on the basketball board ?

Can he coach football?

I always like it when coaches lose to us. When they're gracious like K, that's nice. But meltdowns are more fun.

This board will gush over his accomplishments and appreciate what he's done when he steps down. We love the game and it's history to much not to.

He hasn't done that, so you'll have to wait to get much praise for him on this board.

Rat faced, slobber slinging, ref bashing Puke coach. Don't like him. Never will.

I will say his comments didn't make my like him any less, though I'm not sure that's possible.

Ok, and the guy coaches passing better than any I've ever seen, except for last night.

After that last comment, I'm about to have a seizure.

He just stole our National Championship! Of course he's going to be complimentary! It's easy to be nice when you're the king will all the awards!!!!!

We lost to Wisconsin....he didn't steal anything....only blame is on us for not following through.

I'm not a huge K fan - I hate it when sports figures like him are placed on a pedestal - but I don't hate him and I can't help but immensely respect what he's done.

But I'm 55 and I remember him as a young coach in the early '80 and can appreciate what he's accomplished. It's pretty amazing. He was initially respected as a really good recruiter. I can remember when he signed I think the Johnny Dawkins, Mark Alarie, Jay Bilas class and immediately started challenging Dean Smith in the ACC.

For those of you who don't remember Dean Smith, for as much as the man is revered by UNC fans, he routinely had more talent at UNC than anyone else in the country by far, but could not win it all until freakin' Michael Jordan showed up on campus.

I just hope Cal sticks with Kentucky for another 10-12 years - I think he could similarly ascend to legend status - and the key is staying at the same school. He would become the anti-Pitino.

First, let's establish that we're not talking about the kind of hate where you'd laugh if you heard he died in a plane crash... but a sports-fan-level type of hatred, as in: I hope he loses every game on a last-second half-court shot, and after the ball swishes through the net it somehow bounces around and hits him in the nuts so hard he falls down and starts crying, and CBS shows the video clip of that for the next eleventy zillion years.

So, yeah, I hate him.

..Facts are there , you may not like him , but he is a good coach. I thank coach Cal is the best out there..

While I dislike Duke and Coach K, I respect that he is a very good coach. He is a much better person than Bobby Knight to have at the top of the wins list.

K markets himself as a benevolent wizard who is above reproach. It isn't his fault, he didn't pay the media to anoint him as a god, it just happened and he has used it to his advantage. If that was Cal's image, you better believe he would do it too.
I don't hate K- he is a master at his craft like Cal. I hate Cameron Crazies, I hate Chris Collins, I hate Wojo, and I hate when the media paints Duke as the bastion of all that is "right" about college basketball when they do the SAME thing we do. But I don't fault K for taking full advantage of that image to try to win. Cal would do the same thing and does in his own "black hat" sort of way.

I do think he was sincere when he came on the broadcast after the '92 game, and he was overly gracious when the '98 team came back to beat them. I can't wait until the SOB retires but I think he is a world class coach and a decent man.

He earned a lot of respect from me in 92 when he joined Cawood in the immediate aftermath of that game in Philly to address the Kentucky fans...sure he coaches a big rival and it's fun to poke fun at him, but I have to give credit where it is due and he is an excellent coach who is always humble in victory and defeat.

i didn't much care for him hijacking Cawood's post-game comments. To me it took away from what followed.

I dislike him but I respect him. I've never felt confident going into a game against him because he's a great coach. I still think he's an asshole and I'm glad we have Cal, but I don't hate him.

It's easy to like K if you judge him by screenshots. But I suggest you watch the movie...

Cal has never done things in a "Black Hat" sort of way. His detractor's have tried to frame him in that sort of light and a lot but I'd be much more comfortable using the "Long Ranger" analogy. It fit's Cal a WHOLE lot better.....says his players before AND after playing for him along with the players PARENTS.

I actually don't mind coach K. The first thing he did when CL hit that shot was run to the UK players. That was pretty cool.

I must admit it takes a lot of courage to pose on a bear skin rug.

Oh no waaayyy he complimented our players. So big of him.

97% of coaches compliment the other team after they just lost. Guys like Wall, Cuz, MKG, AD, etc.. they got praise every other game..

When Coach K stops berating the officials every GD time a player commits a foul, then we'll talk. Until then he's the equivalent of the playground parent who rips everyone else's kid, thinking his own are innocent. He's essentially a late-Millennial in a 70 year old rat body.

Wrong! Wisconsin should have been seeded on Duke's side! The NCAA basically gave Duke the #1 seed over a team that had just went 34-0!

Then we would have had to play Arizona, who was just as much a threat to us as Wisconsin.

Plus, this is Monday morning QB nonsense that I hate...no way Wisconsin was gonna be ranked ABOVE Villanova on selection Sunday. There was little to justify that based on the resumes. Even if Wisconsin had been bumped up...it would have been Duke as the 1 seed on our side of the bracket instead, not Nova.
