I have a question about Kentucky and Pitino

I am just a casual College B-Ball fan and I honestly do not know the answer to this - so if someone could give me the abridged version answer - then I would know something that I currently do not know.

Before this latest incident with Pitino - why does there seem to be so much hate from Kentucky fans for Pitino when he won a National Championship at KY?

Did he leave you in a lurch from a coaching standpoint? Is it because he went to a rival? Was he never popular at KY when he was in Lexington?

Thanks and good luck for this upcoming season!

He went to UL when he could have chosen MIchigan or UNLV. But now I see I was wrong for disliking it. It has worked out perfectly.

So basically - when he left the NBA to go back to the college game - it was because he went to an in state rival.

The guy went to coach an in-state rival and the whole time threw shade at UK and its fans. Pitino thought he would come to UL and everyone in the state would love him and follow him like the U.K. days.

I lived in Louisville during his tenure. He always had these little jabs to UK. Let's not forget that he also flipped off our fans after a game.

U.K. fans love the 1996 championship team, but that doesn't mean we have to bow down to Pitino. His name is in our rafters, that's enough respect for what he did at UK. After that, we don't owe him anything. UK helped make Pitino, not the other way around.

he could have went to almost any other school and he would have been loved at kentucky until the day the man died. but he thought he was bigger than UK basketball and figured all the fans would jump ship and become Louisville fans. seriously if he had went to any other school other than a rival school we probably would have hired him back when tubby left.

He decided to coach our archrivals and was a complete prick about it, too.
