I hate the fade pattern at the end zone

I agree, any fade pattern but especially into the end zone I’m like….

Which is worse: the fade or bubble/tunnel screen inside the 10? Personally, I hate the screen more but would be happy without either.

It’s a NFL throw so we’re gonna showcase it for Levis. Now in the pros it’s needed because everyone is so good, it’s a way to get 1 on 1 and have your QB force his will…
In college…. I hope we don’t need it.

This. Alot of what we did today as 1) to showcase Levis' arm and 2) see what some (especially younger) guys could do vs live competition.

I still think that Anthony go route was solely to showcase Levis' arm talent. He just got some pressure and couldn't get a good throw

I think the even bigger question is you know the OL is iffy. Why try to force that stuff.

Fair question. Imo the ol really tightened up second half. Plus Levis did a much better job accounting for the free defender. That quick fade to Bates was the best read of his entire career imo. Finally read that double a gap blitz early and made the perfect throw. That degree of post snap read is not something we saw from him until then.

So like last year, just because there is a called shot doesn't mean Levis can't check down or just get rid of it. He should've just dumped it but he probably knew it was a money throw too.

Like it to BIG WR's or TE's, hate it to shorter athletic WR's.

Barion Brown=NOOOOOOO!!!

Chris Lewis or Keaton Upshaw=Yes!

Screens have their place and can be VERY effective if run at the right time. But within the 10? Yeah that’s dumb as hell.
To your point, the bubble/tunnel screen is based on the same principle as punt returns. If your WR can make the first guy miss and maybe get one block, then he's at full speed and hard to bring down in the open field. Near the goal line, all the defenders are usually within 5 yards of the LOS so there's no opportunity for your receiver to get to full speed. That play can work when you've got more field to work with but I don't think it has much chance near the goal line. Just MHO.

And I mean a deep, passionate hate.
I agree, kentucky has made a living being able to run down hill and get 4-5 yards when they need, I like that the passing game has improved, but when they get down to the goaline stop trying to be cute, either sneak it with levis, or trust your oline to get a push to get 3 yards

It drives me crazy also. It might have worked a little better with a guy like Beau Allen with great touch. But with the gun that Levis has, he should drop back and wait for any receiver to get the slightest bit open and fire. Especially this season with our receivers catching everything thrown to them.

Heck, even Youngstown St. tried it on 1st and goal from the two yesterday. Valentine intercepted it.

It‘s hard to understand why this route is still used so much inside the 5 yard line in this day of analytics. Statistically, it’s one of the least successful routes from this distance.
