I dreamed Murray was not allowed to reclassify to the 2015 class and Skal was disqualified by the NCAA. (In my dream this was NCAA's way of punishing UNC.) It was a terrible dream. We only had Ulis, Poythress, Briscoe, some JC transfer, Lee, some Chicago kid that was once top of his jr hs class, along with 2 in-state boys from Ky. I remember thinking that I'd never seen such lack of talent on a UK roster. It was one of those weird dreams when it felt like the sky was literally falling like a duvet comforter. Fortunately, I awoke around 3am. (Nightly occurrence for mid-lifers.)
To my dismay a different nightmare occurred, only this time it was worse. Billy G was coaching UK and he was doing things that can only happen in a nightmare. In my dream he lost a recruit to some famous NBA player turned coach that was at some small college in Fla. Billy was using the phrase, "they out-whipped us" in every sentence. (Every time he said "whipped" I felt like I was being whipped with a switch!) Billy was recruiting like a mad scientist offering 8th graders from the other side of the country, acting insane by making players stand in bathroom stalls. I'm telling you, this dream was like something out of an Alfred Hitchcock movie.
I woke in a cold sweat and turned on ESPN to try and calm down. As I was finally dozing off I thought I heard a commentator say, "UK put 5 players in the first round a few years ago." I'm still unclear if the last part was dream or reality, but the same commentator stated, "UK may have 7 players drafted in this year's draft. If not, it's certain 5 will get drafted and a minimum of 4 will go in the first round."
It took a few minutes to clear the fog from my mind this morning. I'm still trying to figure out what was a dream -vs- reality. I just know one thing ... I'm glad that kid from Canada committed to us last night. I've been afraid for some time that Cal was losing his touch and I think we still may be better off if we would have kept Billy "They Out-Whipped Us" G ;-)
