about next years class. More so than in any previous year. We all have a penchant for counting chickens while looking at the eggs, but I feel jacked on the possibilities out in front of us.

I think we could possibly field a class of:
Joshua Christopher
Jalen Green
B J Boston
Isaiah Todd
Cliff Omoyuri

There are some others I'm less optimistic about, including Dante who I don't think we'll get. I also don't think we lead for any of the most coveted point guards. But can you imagine the scoring from those five that I feel really good about? I mean....WOW. It's possible that a commitment COULD come in just a matter of a week or two. I think Christopher will be the first egg to hatch.

Another name to keep on watch......Zaire Williams.....I really like his game but it's too early on him just yet.

I'll be ecstatic if we can just land a couple of them at this point. I just don't want to be in the middle of next summer still trying to field a team again like the last 2 - 3 years.

I'm pretty sure you'll still be in your moms basement next summer...

Haven't sweat anything out recruiting wise since cal came along. Best to sit back and enjoy the ride. He has it under control.
For the first 5 or 6 I would agree with this. The last 3 or 4 have been a little more questionable. We have been in late on several recruits.transfers and missed out. Typically it was a type of player that could have taken us to the next level. Now we are having some issues getting some of the guys we are after early as well. Considering that is the same time we stopped making the F4 almost annually and haven't reached it since, I would say it is becoming more and more of a concern. We still get top quality guys that represent the program well and all, and I really appreciate that. However, winning and getting to F4's is the ultimate goal for fans. I would like to see us back the in the position to get there yearly, and it seems we did that the most when our teams were set earlier and we weren't still building a roster mid July.

I can't see IQ, Maxey and Hagans all going to the draft. Just like last year, 1 of the 3 guards just won't get enough time. One of the above will be back next year.

maxey and hagans are def gone.

IQ isn't really an NBA player at this stage, but he would get recruited over if he comes back.

I agree with all of this. Not making the Final Four hurt recruiting in numerous ways, but indirectly so. Other teams started to say "you can have all that talent and still not make the Final Four, come here and put up bigger numbers". Another saying (speculation, but any of us would do the same) is "you're a great player, use Kentucky and Calipari for the media attention, and come here and play for the fans who will get out of their seats". Cal either needs to shake up his staff, or he needs to find a way to prove opposing recruiters wrong.

That would be a great class. Liking the optimism. Sign me up for that class all day every day.

You gotta be a pretty miserable person to set around all day just waiting to be the voice of gloom and negativity in whatever comes along.

Here we have a post from a knowledgeable member who follows recruiting closely that is upbeat about things that will happen months from now -- it is speculation but there are reasons to take the poster's views seriously.

There are only two possible rational responses:
1. Reply enthusiastically and join the discussion.
2. Feel a bit skeptical about things so far into the future, so you file away the information and move on.

Posting about how disappointed you've been with the way previous classes have come together during the 11-year run of #1 or #2 classes every year is not a rational response.

IQ isn't really an NBA player at this stage, but he would get recruited over if he comes back.

But not if there aren't any top PGs in play for next year, as OP stated. IQ might be one of our few options. And I'd take a Junior IQ over any non top PG.

Also, we thought there was no way Hagans would be back. And I'm still not convinced he's gone next year. We tend to fall in love with the HS ranking, but it's not a forgone conclusion that Maxey is gone either. The college game is tough, he could hit roadbumps.

Preach @davekersey !!!

The size and athleticism with that group is off the charts. I still would like to get a top PG to run the show. A pass first guy with tight handles, a Ulis type player, would work wonders with that group.

Either way, I think Cal is going for a grand slam next year as opposed to his usual 2-3 run homers we have all grown accustomed to.

But I am so excited about this year it’s hard to worry about the next group. Don’t know how Cal and staff does it year after year. Truly mind boggling how he manages to orchestrate everything and still find time to sleep.

All we hear is we can't land top 5 guys. I get it, it's true to an extent. But, I mean, who's top 5 exactly? ESPIN's top 5? Rivals top 5? IMO, Maxey and Whitney will prove to be top 5 in this year's class.

Whitney is the best SF in the class. Honestly, I don't see how he isn't top 5. The kid was steadily climbing the rankings til immediately after he officially signed with UK, then he started falling?! Doesn't make much sense. People can draw their own conclusions on that. I know I've drawn mine.

Being the token contrarian in every thread will get you noticed. All about them @‘s, playa.

I still think Cal has a pretty good shot to sign Sharife Cooper. Granted, it’s a tough competition. But Auburn’s program is scandalized now, and Cal hasn’t given up on Cooper. Time could be on Cal’s side in this one. The longer Cooper waits to announce, the better our chances get.

Christopher is the player that would fit in Calipari’s system perfectly. Really hoping that he signs with UK....

Haven’t sweated over recruiting in the 10 years Cal has been here.
I used to before we started totally missing out on top 5 guys and struggling to get the other guys ranked in the top 25. Now that we are annually going into the mid to late summer still trying to field a team with grad transfers and potential reclassification guys, it is starting to get more worrisome. I fear the longer we go without a F4 it will only get worse. Hopefully this is the year.

Who cares about top 5 guys? Cal gets the players that fit the program and who will work hard. Keep giving me the Bookers, SGA, Herro, Fox, Monk, Knox. Cal’s last top 5 guy was Skal. How’d that work out? Recruiting rankings are overrated and like I said I never sweat when it comes to recruiting. He will get the guys to put UK in contention year after year.

I agree Dave. And it seems that with Christopher, we may not need Cooper or Nix. I think he’s very capable of running point. He put up over 5 assists a game in both his junior HS season and his EYBL season.

Landing him would be a huge first step. You know he'd be recruiting Green for us as well.
