Huskers contact Meyer

Why would Meyer take that job?

- Nebraska is way behind Ohio St, Penn St and Michigan
- Somewhat behind Michigan St, Wisconsin
- ON their best days...job is neck and neck with Minnesota, Iowa, possibly Purdue.
- Once USC and UCLA join....USC will easily be superior.

Why not wait for Notre Dame to fire their Joker Phillips mistake....Auburn will open up in a sec....Texas AM, LSU, etc..could open up not to distant, etc..

I’d say they are way behind Michigan State and Wisconsin instead of “somewhat”

Seems like a better then expected hire if they did get him. He's in the fox booth right now so not sure anything can be done just yet. He's probably like well should I extort them cornhuskers or stay put another year til everyone likes him again.

I can see why Nebraska would at least reach out. It’s hard to argue with his consistent success over the years even if he does seem a little scummy. I think they might actually be desperate enough for their former glory to take a chance on his baggage.

I’d be a little surprised if he was interested though. Despite their history, Nebraska is a total rebuild project at this point, and I have a suspicion that he’d prefer a team with a much quicker path to contention if he does come back to college coaching. At this point, they also lack the deep recruiting base needed to accelerate that rebuild. I would expect he holds out for something else if he’s actually contemplating another return.

That’s an NFL gig where the team only won one game before he got there. That stuff was a total hit job from within. Nothing to do with winning three national titles and having an undefeated season with the Bucs.
The NFL is a different animal. I will agree.

His success at every college is impressive but the guy was basically running a halfway house at UF. To each his own though.

His national title team at Ohio State wasn’t undefeated but I get your point.

I think he’s crazy as a sh!t house rat.

Some rats can coach, but what kind of crap would he stir getting the program rebuilt?

Nebraska needs to offer the Iowa State coach whatever it takes to go from one God-Forsaken northern cornfield to the next God-Forsaken northern cornfield.

Has he had a cardiac episode yet from the stress of dating coeds, or does that only happen AFTER he takes the job?
No it only happens when you’re recruiting slips and you say you need to step away from the sport for awhile.

what’s wild is with Meyer you get pretty straight as an arrow guys like Tebow or you end up with a cold blooded killer like Hernandez was.

If Nebraska hire him, they deserve whatever they get. They may get back to the playoffs….but crime in Lincoln may skyrocket too.

Makes sense.

He’s the Rick Pitino of CFB. Resume looks very similar.

-Put smaller programs on the map
-Restored multiple big programs
-offense that changed the game
-can haul in the talent
-Can out X n O most when the talent is thin
-comes with ego n baggage that wears most people n places out

Those types of guys will always get calls. Maybe not from the Notre Dames of the world who aren’t going to want the baggage and don’t really need a guy who’s title runs are behind him but schools that need to get back to .500 ball and sniffing around some bowls.

Nebraska, Colorado, Arizona, South Florida, Indiana, UL…etc

Not that I'm saying he's Meyer, but at some point Petrino will be back for exactly the same reason. The only struggles he's had were when he basically quit on the job while still there at ul. The AD was turned upside down and he knew what was eventually coming. The guy has so much baggage as well, but somebody like Auburn will get to a point they are desperate enough to roll with him again.
