Hump absent from team viewing

Sounds like he's headed overseas. Makes Bamba or Bam a must, or next year's team has serious challenges ahead of them. Will have zero experience and not overwhelming talent.

Perhaps he had class or other obligations.

Other obligations, maybe, but I highly doubt they would schedule a team thing like this at a time when any player had classes. It's not that hard to find free time for all. If he's not there, he's either sick, had some sort of emergency or the most likely scenario, not planning on being part of the team.

100.5 "The Barbie", Melbourne's top sports station is buzzing about the possibility of Hump opting for Australian League draft.

He may be involved in a blockbuster three team trade involving the Koalas, Kangaroos, and Kookaburras with the possibility of a fourth team, like That's Not a Knife, This is a Knife's, being in the mix

"We interrupt our non-stop stream of Savage Garden for some breaking sports news..."

People can destroy Hump's stats all they want, but personally, it would be invaluable to have a guy with 2 full years of experience on next year's team. I don't care if he is a 15 MPG guy, he's a loss. We saw just a glimpse of what he can do in the UNC game and with another year to work on his conditioning and strength, he can be a heck of a college player. To down play that and say "3 points, 3 rebounds a game" is not giving this enough credit.

They didn't schedule it. It was a public viewing at the Kentucky Theater that anybody could go to. Most of the team just happened to go.

We'll all know where he'll be by late May. Every recruitment, especially top guys like Bamba, goes crazy directions right up to the announcement (and even after with T Jones). Remember Noel? Wall? Those are 2 off the top of my head that people thought they were going elsewhere prior to their signing.

Give it up man. I've tried and tried to convince posters that Humphries has the potential to be a real contributor. He was supposed to be a freshmen this past season. He's still learning the game. He has a nice spot up mid range shot that would benefit Bam, Bamba, or Richards next season. But he stinks. Just 3 and 3. Next!

Maybe Briscoe can be on his team...

He has potential to be a contributor but he's not a difference maker. As for being a contributor, I don't think that's aligned with his goals. From the sounds of it, he'd rather have a more vital role and/or get paid while doing it. My guess is that he's heading back to Australia.

They're the same people who, next season when freshmen are struggling, will start bashing Cal over not having "four year players." Some people are only happy when they're complaining.

We need "contributors." I think we can all agree that having role players, especially ones with numerous NCAA Tournament games played is not a bad thing. Nobody expects Humphries to be a star, but it's crazy to say him leaving isn't a loss.

Well apparently bamba is trending towards Texas. So If bam leaves its crucial he stays.

I wouldn't say that just because Evans, McDonald, & Peek picked Texas. Most have thought UK or Texas for a long time. There are plenty others that think UK: Daniels, Roberts, Drew Franklin...etc.

Chad Ford also said that at Hoop Summit the chatter among NBA scouts is that Bamba will be at UK

what will we do without his 3 points and 3 rebounds per game.

I know you are trying to say he didn't & thus wouldn't contribute. But those stats came in just 8 mpg. His per-30-min averages were 10.0 points, 10.1 rebounds, 1.7 blocks. We would all take those numbers from our center!
Statistically he was the best rebounder by far on the team (2nd best among the 9 that played much was Gabriel at 8.2 per-30-min, followed by Bam at 8.0). In fact, in Cal's 8 years at UK, only 3 players have averaged 10 rebounds per 30 minutes in a season, Cousins 12.6, Randle 10.1, & Humphries 10.1.
He was also the best shot blocker from those 9 this past year.
