Huge Crowd for Fan Day

What i liked reading is how our 2nd string O line 5 are all quality guys who i hope get snaps this season. Def not the case a year ago.
4 of the 5 positions I agree with. I don't like having a walkon protecting the QB's blindside. I would assume if Cox goes down we would slide Ford over to LT.

It was JUST an open practice, 3rd practice of camp....but guys I trust who were there watching say Coen's fixed the offense. It already looks tight and fundamentally sound and efficient. Leary actually has permission to check it down to Davis & the backs instead of taking 7 to 10 step drop back & only look for guys 15+ yds downfield (and get sacked). Davis & Demie know how to run wide zone rush concepts.

Still think the practice part of it needs to be in KCWS for the fans viewing. First one I've missed in a long time.

Got to appreciate what you get. Would love to sit in on a UGA practice but only parents and very select group of boosters get to attend. Media gets about 10 min most days, some none and always early. So CMS setting a day aside for UK fans is a really appreciative thing for him to do.

Kirby doesn’t do anything like this? Figured most schools would. Especially with begging fans for NiL donations now too.

Costs a lot more money to staff CWS than just the practice facility, and the pf is a better place to practice. Is CWS even 100% ready yet?

I think I read or heard the new turf is down and everything is fine. They probably just didn’t wanna hold it there and have 1000 people show up. Wouldn’t look good and logistics just isn’t worth it.

A few observations from one who never played the game. Leary is smallish in size (6-1?), but very sharp. The ball is released quickly with good rotation & plenty of zip. Very catchable. Short & intermediate passes were almost always exactly where they needed to be & on time. Check downs were good. DKey and ABrown were very impressive. DCrowdus & SPorter were also getting a lot of reps. BBrown was held out nursing a minor injury. Much of the line practice occurred on the field away from the fans & was not easy to observe. KSheron was the clear QB2 early & looked good. I was unsure if DHogan or DWade was taking QB3/4 snaps. SHamm took a few snaps @ the close of practice. During this practice, the O seemed to get the best of the D. Given we know the D will be very good, it speaks well of the new O. RJefferson participated in practice, but wearing a redshirt. RDavis looked good. Practices can be deceptive in that all qbs wear no contact red shirts, so you can't really tell how they will respond under intense pressure during a game. The practice was very well orchestrated with multiple drills timed & on both ends of two fields simultaneously. Seemed to be very efficiently run. There was little downtime between drills; just enough to allow the players to remain hydrated. The drills included special teams work, although I did not observe kickers. Again, may have been on the field away from the fans.

I can't remember the last time only 1k people showed up to fan day. Maybe Joker's last season...

3500 people showed up this year. Decent number of people.

Thanks for posting this. I was out of town or might have attended.

The D holding back as you stated changes things immensely, but good to hear the offense was doing well. They also tend to go vanilla on D in good on good this early in practice. They'll not likely start testing the O with stunts and changes until after 2 weeks of camp are under their belt.

That’s a shame. How did Richt(I’m sure I misspelled it) handle that?

Richt was much more open, would have fan days in spring and preseason, media didn't have full access of course but got alot more time to watch practice. So much more fan and media friendly. But I wouldn't trade Richt's more open practices and results for Kirby's secretive practices and results. So I will accept it and whine about it. We do have a pic day, but all that is players in uniform signing autographs.

Lol. I wouldn’t either.
