How good is it to be a UK fan?

Define haters. As for me it's quite nice to pull recruits from other schools, but I'm sure Cal wants to get rid of the stigma that we're a program that exits the tournament in order to prepare for the draft.
Cal has won more NCAA tournament games since he got to Kentucky in 2009-2010 than any other coach. I guess you must feel pretty stupid talking about early exits.

UK is about winning titles. Right or wrong? It means little to me that we win a bunch of games every year. So does Gonzaga and Butler.

Wrong. We're more than titles. Because college basketball is about the betterment of student athletes. We're positioned to win more than ever because Cal gets the best players and gets the most out of them by putting them first. If you're not proud of our team and our victories, why call yourself a fan?

I'd hope, hell he's got the most talent in the country every year. I would imagine he would win a lot of tournament games

**** off. Better yet, who's your team, UNCheat? Fluke? No way you're a UK fan. If you are, you're a very negative one. Very.

That crook was brought to UK during Pitino's era and let go burning Billy's era. Not a UK employee under Cal. So if you want to blame a coach, looks like Rick is your man.

Thought it was obvious I was mocking those idiots, but perhaps some of you, I give too much credit to.

Suck it haters.
Been following several college programs over the course of my life and can say without question that UK is a VERY fun program to root for, and not just basketball. Here are all the teams to whom I have a strong, personal connection, and why UK stands out...

  • Penn State - Dad and sister went there and I grew up a die-hard fan. Yet despite the resurgence last year, the Sandusky scandal was devastating and will cast a shadow over that program for decades.

  • Georgia - Been a season ticket holder for 20 years and continue to root hard for them. But the "fun" just hasn't been there in a long time. Instead, it's been annual torture to always be good but never great. Their leadership just can't seem to get it together and have any of their programs reach their full potential.

  • South Carolina - Attended school there and have a daughter that just graduated. More satisfying than you might think given the Spurrier years, the magical run to the Final Four in basketball, the women's b-ball national title, and a pair of championships in baseball. Great fans, fun game-day environments, and occasional greatness. Yet there is still always a bit of little brother syndrome relative to Clemson who just won it all in football (USC's ultimate dream) and the down cycles have been really lengthy and painful.

  • Kentucky - My younger daughter just finished her freshman year and what a breath of fresh air it has been. We knew she was going there since 2015 so we've been enjoying UK basketball the past 3 seasons. Lots of success already, but perhaps even more on the horizon. Plus, it goes way beyond that. The football team is becoming legit (bowl game, win over UL, great start to 2018 recruiting, and very nice stadium improvements), the baseball program is quickly emerging as a national power (still in the hunt for a national seed, recruiting is going well, and brand new stadium on the way), and the entire campus is getting a major facelift that makes it one of the most appealing colleges I've ever visited. Plus, there's Keeneland and the Kentucky Horse Park which we love. I'll even give UK HUGE props on how friendly and organized they've been with everything from the application process, scholarships, orientation, move-in and move-out, academic advising, management of residence halls, dining facilities, req center, assimilation for new students, you name it. What a great place with a really bright future. Love it and I've thoroughly enjoyed adding UK to my growing list of college allegiances.

we've actually had three "golden years" - late 40s into early 50s, mid to late 90s, Cal era. pretty cool......Very good, among the best in the country results in every decade since the 30s, punctuated by great results every so often......

I find I'm so excited, I can barely sit still or hold a thought in my head.

I think it's an excitement only a UK fan can feel. A UK fan at the start of a long journey whose conclusion is uncertain.

I hope this group is as good as I think they're.

I hope they win the SEC.

I hope they they tear thru the SEC tournament with ease.

I hope they destroy all 6 opponents in the NCAA tournament.

I hope.

It gets on my nerves actually. I wish it didn't mean as much as it does to me, but it's akin to a disease and I've learned to accept, and live, with it.

See what I mean? There are some of our biggest fans now talking shit on this post LOL, god it must suck to suck. Meanwhile we are lookin and feelin damn good.

Haters are basically most of the UL fanbase, Duke fanbase, UNC fanbase, and any other rando that hates us because we're good.
