How deflating if Admin waits until opening week to announce the suspensions

Maybe not tipping their hands to opponents. Strategic ambiguity.
Counter productive. This dark cloud over the program should have been dealt with a long time ago. Instead, the powers that be continue to leak additional players getting suspended instead of dealing with this thing head on.
Piss poor leadership coping with a true CF.

Waiting for the season to start because once it’s announced, someone will report what actually happened. They want it to get lost in the excitement and chatter about the actual games instead of having it be the only topic when little else is happening.

Literally not a dark cloud depressing ticket sales or excitement and interest in the program or the season.

It is Stoops decision when to announce the suspensions, IMO. Barnhart has already passed down the punishments. Stoops doesn't want to talk about it until next Monday of game week when he issues the depth chart. He has avoided talking about suspensions all Fall camp to keep the team and program focus on preparation for the season.

This is the most realistic explanation but imho the sooner the announcements the sooner it becomes less of a distraction.

I think Stoops and players involved know. It’s only deflating for fans. Like you, I’d like to know today. But, I also understand that’s not how these things work. I agree with above poster. They’ll announce the suspensions when it gets lost in the news cycle. (I’m guessing this Friday, or next Friday.)

Ok.

Since we know they're happening, why does it matter when they're announced? Just move on to the meaningful.

What announcement needs to be made? We all know about them and know it'll be 3 or 4 games. I don't see the rush to make some formal announcement.
Its dumb to draw this thing out.
Leaks shouldn't have happened.
This is being handled in the worst way possible.

Oh its meaningful. Who is getting suspended and for how many games?
I assume admin is holding out with the announcements in hopes of more season ticket sales.

Dude.. what is wrong with you?... LET IT GO AWAY! Let's throw every detail out there about all this stuff..... How about we alert everyone on the planet as to what was going on...?

Outside of apparently Crod is suspended for a time, theres nothing to know and no reason to know it. We certainly don't see Crod or his family going to the media to protest, so it's pretty obvious something went wrong.

Whether we like it or not, the fact is some folks gotta cowboy up and show they are serious football players. Every one of us has ballyhooed different running backs we said needed a chance.
So here we go. Heres the chance.

Mitch said at his press conference that he, Dr Cap and Stoops were "working through" deciding what the punishment is going to be, intimating that no decision has been made. I take that as Stoops doesn't have much say in this.

What dark cloud... Please man if you think the team and Chris don't know what the suspension is you are fooling yourself. Just the other team and fans don't know. Stoops already address this and said it would be discussed Game Week probably on Monday. Get over yourself.

Who is distracted? No one deserves to know, especially our opponents. As far as they need to know/prepare for is that he is playing. Let them prepare 2 different defensive game plans, 1 with him and 1 without him.

Oh I completely disagree

When the (alleged) overpayment of hospital trips was 1st discovered, i think Barnhart wanted to instantly kick CRod off the team. The fact he wasn't is for 1 reason in my mind, Stoops standing by his player. I'd bet Stoops has been fighting every inch and every minute to make this right for all involved, and to keep CRod playing.

I can easily see Stoops negotiating with Barnhart & Eli "wait, what if he does this? What if we push him by having him in the summer do that? How about if we take this privilege away, or he does this at of service hour donations?"

What started as an almost certain full season suspension back in May (per KSR) has been worked and worked down to 4, or maybe even just 3.

IMO don't assume Stoops has no leverage at UK, nor that he won't use it to push back for his kids.

Oh, I think he has plenty of leverage these days and I'd be shocked if he wasn't using every bit of it. Stoops doesn't need to be fighting uphill against his own administration over issues that are probably minor

It already has leaked. I’m not sure it’s a great big deal but it isn’t petty nonsense.

I didn't mean he doesn't have a voice, so I misspoke. I should have said it's out of his hands and Mitch will make the final decision with Cap's blessing. The original comment was complaining that Stoops hasn't made an announcement on the punishment and that is because, I presume, he doesn't know it yet because Mitch has told him.
