Can't beat a bunch of midgets. - worst front court I can remember at UK, since maybe the probation days and those guys, at least, played with heart.

Poy on the bench again with 5 fouls, really helps the team sitting.

Worse than that probably. We are probably the worst front court in the nation. A team with no PF and no C on their team can just destroy you inside. Wow this is pathetic.

But we have Skal!! #1 draft prospect before the season. How can we have no front court?

Imo, and it doesn't mean much but your frontcourt looks a little light in the shorts this year....where are the brusiers?

Beyond awful. This team desperately needs an inside presence. We have two C that offer absolutely nothing down low (Lee and Skal).

A PF who's the most inconsistent player ever, and you never know if his good or bad will show up from half to half (Poythress).

Then another PF who's so one dimensional it's not even funny and does nothing but stand in the corner, waiting on one of the guards to create and get him an open shot (Willis).

We're like a doughnut, in that we have a big hole in the middle.

I just think Cal miscalculated the players this year. The players don't fit the puzzle to complete the task. I'm not saying they aren't good players. Alot of players aren't playing in the right position on the court to make them the most successful players! That sounds way to philosophical but I hope you know what I mean.

No bruisers available in this class. Skal was supposed to be Anthony Davis 2.0 that was a tad too optimistic.
No flame intended guys...I am a long time observer of SEC bball at a wannabe football school and just wondering who has or hasn't panned out this year.

No worse than the backcourt in this particular game and too many others. When your shooting guard and point guard are 10 of 30 from the field, you simply aren't going beat many halfway decent teams.

Tired of so many posters wanting to put this team's poor play on the back of the frontcourt players. In this game and others, there is plenty of blame to go around.

Volume scorers, like Murray, can win games for you when they're hot and shoot you right out of a victory when they are not!

They are bad. If fouls won games we'd have the greatest front court in history.

Murray is a volume shooter and our backcourt went 10 for 30 because our front court sucks. Other than Knight, Cals teams havent had volume shooters in the backcourt. Its always balanced, and he primarily pounds the post. A true post player would take a hell of a lot of pressure off Murray and Ulis. And everyone else for that matter.

Damn shame Dakari didn't come back. He's not great offensively but he does the dirty work that our bigs stink at. He'd be a great fit on this team.

I honestly believe with Dakari this team would be top 5 right now. It would be night and day with him out there.

Also, to add one more point to my previous post, we were outrebounded tonight by a team with zero players taller than 6'5.

The Sheray Thomas, Orbzut, Shagari Alleyne frontcourt was better than this one.

Sorry but a true post player is not going to magically turn 33% shooting into 50% shooting.

We have 2 taller than 6'5". Neither one were factors, so your point is well taken.

Lee may have the least amount of basketball skills I have ever saw for a D1 player

The guards wouldnt be taking the contested bullshit shots they are forced to take if we had an inside game. If there was a post presence, they wouldnt take 30 shots. Period.

I don't know if Dakari would make us top 5 but we would absolutely be a better team. He wouldn't score many points but he would get 8-9 rebounds a game with a block or 2 and a put back or 2 a game. Just those would improve the front court a lot. Skal or Lee would probably barely see the floor at this point as well.

Minus fouling Poy played fine

Skal is a freshman that is going to develop at a slower than anticipated rate , that's understandable if not desired .

Lee is not accomplishing much of anything , I'm not going to beat him up but the summary is he's not making an impact .

So Skal and Lee are not going to give us a post presence in most games , it all falls on Poy and that's unfair . It's a dilemma that will not be answered this season unless Skal changes this year , not looking like a possibility . It's time to stop worrying about it and just accept that we are not going to have strong post play unless Poy gets it .

This front court is so bad that I don't foresee any "tweaks" that can help them other than running a zone defense. Skal doesn't rebound, can't catch passes unless he's 15 ft from the basket, his main post move is a fade way that he rarely hits, and his only points are usually jump shots from the free throw line area. Lee is a fouling machine that usually only scores on lob dunks and hasn't learned any post moves while he has been here. Poythress can play a great game then disappear for the next five games afterwards. If anyone can turn this situation it's Cal but I don't know what he could do to fix all of these problems considering it's already February.

Well, Lee is a mess, you never know which Poythress you're gonna get, and Skal is still a work in progress. Willis was a nonfactor tonight.

These terrible inside players were 11 of 20 for 55%, while the all-star guards were 15 of 40 for 37.5%.

Face it, collectively to-date our guard play has been average to slightly above average (Without Ulis it would have been below average.) While our inside players have been average to slightly below average. As a team they are simply average.

You and our guards (other than Ulis) are still reading their high school press clippings. This is big-boy BB and they simply have not stepped up their games. Period.

If you think the 11-20 is indicative of the front court play, please understand they are horrible in all other areas. Scoring isn't a strength either.

Love your post. Spot on. Lee has something going on, I don't know. This team may not be close. He has regressed. Poythress pisses me off. All the tools, shows up when he feels like it then disappears. Willis should be a 7-8th man on a decent team. Some homers don't like hearing it, but he is limited.

Briscoe and Murray aren't as good as we thought they'd be either.

All we can hope for is a red hot stretch from Murray if we make the tournament. Briscoe can't finish but wouldn't look so bad if we had one of our elite centers dunking the misses. As is, hell, we can't rebound so it is like a turnover.
I do wonder if Murray would look better if we had a front court the other team took seriously. Pretty easy for teams to go after the guards now. I hope the front court at least looks at this as a challenge. People say you suck, prove otherwise. Their BBIQ needs questioned too.

I don't think the help necessarily needs to be a front court guy. It just needs to be another player that the defense can't completely ignore. Brandon Ingram, Booker, or even Mulder if he could 3-and-D like Liggins at the 3 would improve our offensive spacing immensely.
