I remember watching this as a kid. Great atmosphere! The crowd was nuts! Game was a little sloppy especially the start for UK. Roger Hardin came in and calmed things down. Jim Master not even looking for his shot. Big Mel and Sam did a good job on Olajuwon. Refs were as bad back then as now. I loved the caricatures and retro graphics! I remember Billy Packer used to drive me nuts calling games. Great nostalgia! Fun to watch again!

Still love how Houston was rocking the double numbers. Hakeem wore 34 in White Jerseys and 35 in red--so you'd go even for home light and odd for road dark jerseys. For those who don't know #41 Ricky Winslow is current NBA/former Duke player Justice Winslow's father.

Gary Bender's last year as the PBP guy for CBS. He was great. Craig Bolerjack reminds me a little of Bender.

Love these nostalgia games. Reminds me of being a kid and being so excited to watch seeing that we only saw a few games during the week/weekend contrasted with today's being able to see any/everything.

I can still remember what a great day of sports that was for me. My Cats beat Houston and my Raiders won the Super Bowl. Didnt get any better than that!! I still have both of them recorded on VHS LOL. Reminds me of something else I have, would love to get digitized if its not ruined by age...the 92 Duke game except I inputed Cawood's call of the game for the audio while recording it.

Forgive me, I’m a little slow but what is the significance of alternating numbers?

Good video. Thanks for sharing this.

I was only 8 at the time, but think it was to help with calling fouls--home team would wear the even numbers--road team odd so there weren't any mix ups when calling fouls. Was a lot easier for them to signal to the scorer's table. But that's nothing but going off something I was told a while back. May be entirely different reasoning.

Another good one! Indiana at UK 1979. So refreshing to hear Cawood’s call instead of the tv personalities. I was 5 at the time so I don’t really remember this game but I guarantee it was on at my house! Anytime UK beat #1 Indiana and Bobby Knight was a great day in the Commonwealth! Kentucky was #5 in the polls.
