Honest Bob gets a new 7 Yr./$30.6 million contract

The annual base pay of the new contract would have higher than all but eight coaches' salaries in 2015, according to a USA Today database. Among Atlantic Coast Conference coaches, Petrino would make more than only Florida State's Jimbo Fisher, who earned $5.15 million in base pay in 2015, and Clemson's Dabo Swinney, who just received a new six-year $31.75 million contract that will pay him $4.8 million in 2016

7 years at $30 million is not a big P5 contract by current standards. Jurich and Petrino are stuck with each other. If it turns out that the basketball prostitute scandal spills over into football recruiting, that would not involve Petrino since he wasn't there at the time. You could wonder if they are locking up Petrino before things get worse. I guess we will find out.

Mighty big salary for Music City bowl type apperances...
Sh!t, these clowns think they're gonna be in the playoffs in a few years. [roll]

Re: Petrino's Contract Extended
When we win the ACC and are in the football play-off in the next few years, nobody will be complaining. Petrino is home and while I'm not optimistic enough to say we are going to win 11 or 12 games this year, it's in the realm of possibility and we are definitely on a trend upwards.

Well Louisville will be in 2016 is Preseason Top 25...will be ranked in the Top 25 for the 5th time in 6 years...

And that's Playoff worthy, I tell ya. Yeah, just being ranked in the top 25 for the 5th time in 6 years will get you in the playoffs. [eyeroll]

It is the market for his salary....put it to you this way...Kentucky is paying Stoops within the Top 30 of salaries and pretty much the same as 2016 SEC East Favorite Butch Jones at Tennessee..if he get you to a Bowl it worthy...if Petrino continues to win 8 to 10 regular season games a year and finish in the Top 20-25 it would be in line with the current football landscape of coaching salaries.

Going to the CFP and being one out of the 65 P5 schools is extremely difficult with only 4 Playoff Spots

If Petrino is going to the playoffs any time in the next 5 years he better up his recruiting. Look at the teams that historically have been in there. They recruit top 10 classes. Lvl. isn't close to that and they're losing alot of talent next two years. Their recruiting method of mid 30 classes and then add a few rapists and career criminal transfer's does however seem to be serving them well ?

So defensive.

I would say that with the talent in place for both coaches and the schedules they play, Bobby has been about as successful as Stoops since he has been at UL. If you go back and look at expectations before Petrino arrive, he has not met the general fan's expectations. He has lost a bit of what Charlie built.

Those have been retooled and the bar is now much lower for him.

Charlie had one advantage over Petrino....Bridgewater and a mainly healthy team in 2012-2013...still in 2014 he finished in all rankings-(AP, USA Coaches Poll and the CFP...did this in spite of not having DeVante Parker for the first 7 games)...in 2015 won his last 8 out of 10 games with one of the youngest starting lineups in the P5. This year he needs to split with FSU and Clemson...for Stoops he needs to get his team to Bowl Eligibility to earn his salary...bottom line

The ACC has had some solid football recently, not always the case. Bottom line is Louisville has beaten us a lot lately, has beaten Florida, hell they beat A&M in their bowl last year. We can criticize them for a lot but one thing we can't is football. Let's beat them first. I'm much more worried about fixing our mess.

Biggest advantage CS had... Clint Hurtt and his U ways.

Hurtt is now with the Chicago Bears...Strong with the Longhorns...now it is Petrino team with 3 Classes under his belt-(basically Petrino roster now) and a very likely Preseason Top 25 team...he is being paid according to the expectation this year...Strong had Bridgewater...Petrino now has Lamar Jackson and Jawon Pass...going to be a interesting year...best case split with 2 Top 5 teams and finish 2nd in the ACC Atlantic...

Most likely case... you lose both FSU & Clemson and a couple others and are in a mid tier bowl just like last year

That your opinion...many have a different opinion in the National Media and in early projections including SaturdayDownSouth which is SEC centric has Louisville having a good year-(Taxslayer/Gator Bowl vs Florida)...all I know is this...after losing 7 starters on defense from 2014...ending up starting 6 Freshmen on offense in 2015...After starting 0-3 finished up going 8-2....just my opinion with 17/18 starters returning for 2016 the arrow is pointing up

Which is still pretty darn good.
You are right I would most certainly take it in our situation ,but when you're a team talking NC game it isn't...so I take it you are n Otis fan?...my whole point is that people like you and PE are on here to start trouble and everybody knows it, but if we go to your board and talk like this to the the aholes--of which most Otis fans are--over there they ban you...look I know and am willing to admit that MS is at a crossroads with this program , but I also know that last year and the year before we should have beaten otis, fla and Vandy and everybody would have been singing a different tune.

Someone who gives UL credit for beating A&M last year might not follow football.

Someone who completely misses the point that was made, which was that we couldn't have beaten that A&M team last year so it's hardly smart to denigrate Louisville for doing so, may not follow football.

Let's just face reality here. UofL simply has a better football program than KY (right now). Its laughable UK fans even try to mock their program when our own coach has a 33% winning percentage, haven't beaten UF in 29 years, and haven't sniffed a bowl game in half a decade. We can talk about all the differences between the programs (conferences, rosters, etc) but the fact is KY is paying their HC a ton of money for substandard results (so far). There was a time where we got tired of playing in the MCB. Now, we are begging to get a bowl like that again. Obviously, Stoops has some time to turn this around. On paper, he has been the better recruiter than Petrino, but as of today Petrino has owned KY and Stoops on the field. Advantage Petrino right now.

Precisely. And it gets very old when the peanut gallery jumps on anyone who simply acknowledges that fact. We can't fix the problem if we refuse to admit we have one.

Two things..BP inherited much better talent the MS and it wasn't even close, by I do think BP is a much better coach than MS...2. "Not sniffed a bowl game in half a decade" 2014 we were a dropped int from being in a bowl and this past season we led Otis 24- 7 at half and it should have been worse and we would have gone bowling both years... I know that is playing the old iffin game and I think the door must be kicked in ths year unless we go 5-7 and are in the hunt in the 4th qtr in the games against the biggies which could give some hope going forward...no blowouts this year or looking like a Chinese fire drill on the sidelines.

Agree with everything you said. If I could add up all the woulda shoulda coulda's when it comes to KY Football in my lifetime it would be a very large number. I am still on the Stoops train, but the honeymoon is over. He has had enough time to compile just enough talent and experience to look like a competent SEC program. So far, they have shown glimpses but the severe inconsistencies, constant mistakes, and lack of discipline and organization is a big concern. You just do not see that with Petrino very often. Stoops has to start showing something this season and I am afraid the schedule is not going too be kind to him.

Beating them is not going to make Petrino any less of a dirt bag. Bobby is being rewarded for being crooked and having a lack of morals. The Uof L way. What a cesspool.

Oh. Your point was to speculate how UK would have performed against A&M's third string QB. Gotcha.

Make a dumb comment and even the peanut gallery notices.

I'm happy for them. They've been slobbering for Bobby since day one and now the have him. I think he fits their program and they fit he's personality perfectly. It's perfect and makes all the sence in the world.

I have no doubt that he'll do what he does best which is leaving a program / team burnt to the ground after he's bored. Good luck with that.

Yes, it was, and I'm glad that you acknowledge you finally grasped it. Awesome. We couldn't shut down Vandy and struggled mightily against EKU. You make a wise ass remark about dumb comments and speculating after having stated that I must not follow college football because you assume I wasn't aware of what the QB situation was in College Station, as opposed to just taking my comment at face value which was that I do not think we would have beaten A&M the way we finished out the season. Now you can continue to speculate on what you think I know, or add another "dumb comment," but I think there's two things we can at least agree on. 1. Louisville is in much better place than we are in football right now unfortunately and 2. "Caveman" is about as apt a screen name as I've seen on here.

Own us in what, Kaitlin?
On the field. Do you watch the games? The only UL coach that UK has had ANY success against is Kragthorpe. Strong dominated us. Petrino may not ever lose to us. Why is it so hard to get that through your thick skull?
