How,do,you feel about our chances and everything in between of winning #9

Do,you feel, last night was a fluke, ole miss played out their minds....

Do,you feel we just " showed up" not ready to battle,for,40 minutes?

Do,you feel,we abandoned our bread and butter defense and feeding it inside ?

Is there any concerns or do you feel everything will be ok going forward he rest of the season and in the tourney?

I never thought we would go,undefeated. And actually doesn't bother me. I just want to,win the last six, games. Last night I had flashbacks of last season where our players stayed at the top of the court and we just weaved and never tried to,feed the post. Also the old " ball stopper "team was back

With all the pressure and media, build up of this team, I want number 9 more than anything. I could, care less what the media or rival, fans think if we have a close game or a loss this regular season. But if we fall short somehow I will be extremely disappointed. I just watched some of last years championship, game against UCONN It reminded me of,that bad taste in my mouth and the feeling of being so close. I remember after the run we made that it was almost a no,brainier we would beat Uconn. I know we had a great run and I was proud of the run we had. But that feeling of not winning it came back for a second.

Last nights game reminded me anything can happen. I,guess with all,the hype and what this, team is,capable of just makes me want it that much more. I'm usually the biggest sunshine pumper on this board but last night reminded me we have to,bring it every game. and also brought up that feeling of last year for,a,second

It was a fluke. We were coming off a long layoff, got complacent, they played an A+ type game, we played a C- type game...and you can lose with all of that happening against a solid team. Ole Miss is solid. UK won't play like this against Duke or Wisconsin or whoever in the tourney, I can assure you that.

Someone said if we lose it may be at home in the SEC due to taking the road games more serious and playing off the road crowd.

We probably had some rust from the long layoff, but I think the main reason was that Ole Miss played out of their minds, all of them especially Moody, so I'm going with last night was a fluke.

We were always going to have at least one game like that; it was just a matter of whether or not we still won the game.
We did.

I agree with everything you said. We will, bring it against a Duke or wisconsin and win.

My my only doubt is like the championship last season. Our games leading up to,the championship, were all,up,in the air some people predicted the other team ect

but when we got to,the championship, game it was almost a foregone conclusion the title, was ours. There was no,reason we should have lost to,UCONN. That is,the only thing that worries me

dont really get the analysis and over reaction / under reaction to every game. this season boils down to 2 games. the sweet 16 and elite 8. thats all that matters. its really just about winning those 2 games. no more no less. how we get there, how we do...doesnt really matter much in the grand scheme of things.

I agree. I don't care even if we lost last night or a couple, times this season. I agree the elite eight and sweet 16 games are huge.as was last season. But after beating wisconsin everyone had us penciled in........

last year every game in the tourney was an extra cherry on top. After the season we had it just made everything go,away. But then when we were actually the favorite we lost

i,think, this, year it's the opposite. We will, wear a different hat. Each game is a survive and advance. I might need to,take off work those two, weeks cause I don't know if I can handle it. Lol

Ole Miss was incredible last night. We didn't play that bad out side of WCS on offense. If we ever find some low post offense and Andrew starts finishing at the rim on drives & breakaways we will thrive.

I'm not worried, we are still the most talented team in the country but I also realize that we were more talented than UCONN in the finals last year. After reading the most recent post on KSR about the Alabama game selling out and this is their first sellout since 2013, I have accepted we are likely to face many more games like last night and I refuse to freak out over a loss.

Our bigs have to show the intensity they played with on D in most of the previous games. That perimeter-stifling, rim-defending and drive-suffocating play will win us a lot of games even when our O sputters.

Honestly, it made me less confident. Only because I didn't think any team would really give us that big of a scare in the SEC, but that it was Ole Miss. I think if we improve our offense though, such games are less likely.

both uva and wisky up by 1 at home against a horrid teams.

this stuff just doesnt matter folks.

My thoughts on the team have not changed one bit. I still think we're the best team in the country and we're favored to win the title. I've never thought we'd go undefeated and don't really care. Whether last night's game was a fluke or Ole Miss just outplayed us is irrelevant. We're still much better than them even though it was close. No team blows out every opponent.

2012, they played out of their minds in the tourney. Even better than their regular season games.
2014, they played out of their minds in the tourney. Much better than their regular season

I think you could say the same about 2011.

I think for the most part, coach cal prepares you for the tourney very well.

I think between talent, coaching, and environment we are just more ready. I think our tourney runs will reflect more of our neutral big games we seen this regular season. Our players will be pumped and ready to go.

So, i'm not worried. I laughed like i did with all the other close games we have had.

Great comments and thoughts, opinions shared above by everyone. I share them almost exactly with everything (except being less confident in any way about our team). Sometimes being positive and optimistic clouds even the most level headed view of a team, and getting an unexpected game like Ole Miss shakes that kinda' viewpoint.

We were going to have AT LEAST one game that was a nail biter, even if we went 40-0. IU's undefeated team had a 2 point shave against a 6-20 Ohio State team, and that horrid Purdue team played them within like, 4-8 points both times they played them that year. People tend to forget that, and that was voted the "best all time team."

So, we had that game now. We won it. And of course, consensus opinion was that if UK gets beat, it most likely wouldn't be against someone expected. It would be in an unexpected game in unexpected fashion. Still might happen that way, in fact, if we lose to anyone at this point, it would still fall into that category, I would contend.

I thought we'd lose 3 games and hang #9 in the pre-season. Might do better than that and still hang #9 at this point, in my view. Or we could go undefeated and end up losing in the tournament, heartbreaking, but still a great season, and fun to have been on the ride for.

I think these guys will use this Ole Miss game to refocus for the rest of the SEC season. They might very well parlay it into an undefeated conference run, even stretching it to go undefeated entering NCAAT play. Then it's 40-0 or bust (no choice).

I'm still very confident. Very optimistic. We're #1, we've handled it great so far, even in the Ole Miss game. All that pressure, and we pulled it out in the darkest moment against a team playing like they were #1 and out of their mind good. I mean, statistically, they played like 1992' DUKE good against us. And we still won with not our best game.

Take heart in that, and stay confident in the future. Stay the course !

Go Big Blue !

I am not worried about us in the tournament. I am worried about every remaining game we have scheduled though. Lets face it, either they are not getting "up" for these games at all, or they are not as good as we think they are.

I personally believe they are a good team and they will continue to get better, but if they don't start giving 100% they will drop a game or two they shouldn't.

This game helped us more than any other so far. I am sure the team was ver attentive today at practice and in the film room.

guys, last night Mississippi would have beaten EVERY other team in the country! Nobody else could have withstood the bizarre and unconscious shooting performance that Ole Miss put on, and survived. But, we did.

This is not a time for despair, but a sign of hopefulness. We knew we would encounter a game like this, from someone, and everyone knew that this would be the type of game required to defeat UK. And, we still prevailed. It was very reminiscent of the South Carolina game in 2012, which we lost. But, this time we didn't.

This team is destined for even better things....

I'm not sold that Cal has settled in on who plays with who and the rotations with in the nine players.... Time will tell and it takes time to get a good assessment.

I'm not concerned. This team to me has played to their competition all season. It's the reason I expect them to take a loss in the SEC. I still feel very good about a title. This team may just have to beat itself for them not to win it.

A bunch of ranked teams got a little dose of conference play in the past 2 nights.I don't think we will see dogfights like that every night in the SEC.It is a small sample but the spread between the haves and have nots may be less than we thought.

In our case Ole Miss played as well as they will play all year, looking at their next 4 games they could be 0-5 to start the SEC.The reality is that everyone except us is playing for 2nd place in the SEC,LSU and Ark have the best shot,UF has a good road win but is probably only playing the role of a spoiler

It has certainly appeared every major conference is going to be competitive from top to bottom. I've been avidly paying attention to the other conferences as many started before SEC play did...and not many undefeated teams left in them in conference play at this point in the season, still early in conference play.

Big East has 1/10 undefeated through 3 games played and that is 9-7 Depaul. Yes, wtf indeed with that one.
Big Ten has 2/14 undefeated through 2/3 games played for the conference. Wisconsin and Iowa.
Pac 12 has 4/12, but 2 of those 4 have only played one game in conference.
The very top heavy ACC has 5/15 left through 3 conference games.
Big 12 has 4/10 still undefeated, but those teams are about to start playing each other asap.

I think overall there is a lot of parity in most of these conferences, with some obvious teams that are superior at the top in some of them. Even those really good teams are going to have tough games and lose some of them.

UK#8,I think the Big 10 (outside of Wiss) will be a big mess, like the SEC they will cut each other up badly.

The ACC is interesting in that I don't think UNC is all that good,UL is an unknown in that league,Duke may be the class of the league but when they play a good team on the road they may get exposed as being not as good as they have appeared so farThere are 3 question marks and I haven't mentioned UVA so there is another potential dog pile

KU doesn't appear ready to take control of the Big 12,OU looks good at times and you can throw Baylor, Texas and Iowa St in a bag and you couldn't tell the difference

There may well be more good teams out west than usual, the Zags,Utah, Zona and Stanford are all prtty good

ND and WVA may make some noise before itis all said and done

nice post wall2.

I think we drop a game on the road somewhere now. I didn't before the ole miss game but it got me really thinking about our teams on the road in conference under cal. It's probably going to happen somewhere.

All I really care about is 6-0 in the tournament anyway, but I've got no problem hoping.

And as I pointed out to you last night after the game when you mentioned this, answer me this. What was our road record in 2010, and 2012 with Cal in the SEC? As opposed to 2011, 2013, and 2014?

It was 6-2 in 2010 and 8-0 in 2012. It was obviously far worse in the other 3 seasons. Now, which group is this team like? The 2010 and 2012 teams, or the other 3? I believe it is in the former as one of Cal's strongest teams. Cal's best, most experienced/talented teams win on the road in conference.

I think that if teams are going to look at this game and rely upon it as a "blueprint" then we are in pretty good shape. If we show up to play on defense this isn't even a game.

As I said in another thread, IF an opponent shoots out of their minds AND we don't show up ready to play on defense THEN you lose in overtime. I will concede that we shot it well from outside and that helped us tremendously, but if we bring effort on defense all of this does not matter and the game isn't even close.

The only problem with this game was they let off the pedal after the terrific start. I doubt that will happen again.

Young team, coming off a long break after the Louisville showdown, working off the rust, overlooking Ole Miss, and Old Miss having the game of their life. The stars practically aligned for an Ole Miss win, and they still lost.

Not worried about #9, but I AM a bit more reserved about 40-0. This team hasn't quite showed me they can bring it every single night. They might get caught sleeping..

I think that we have the best chance to win it all over every other team out there.

I do wish that we had one guy that can just put the team on his back and carry us though.

We have a bunch of really good players but we don't have any GREAT players IMO.

I think that we're more vulnerable that a lot of UK fans think.

Don't freak out, it was one game coming off a big win and a 10 day break -- and we still won. As far as #9 goes our chances are excellent but you never know what will happen in the tournament.

I've heard that line of thought before but I've never really understood it. If you're relying on one guy to carry you and the other team shuts him down you lose. I'd much rather have a deep and balanced team like ours.

We will not "lay waste" to every team we play. We certainly didn't do that to Ole Miss and we won't do it to every remaining team on our schedule. Will we win them all? Maybe but i doubt it. Regardless, we aren't going to win all of the rest of our games in blowout fashion. It's unreasonable to even think it.
