dude, these college names are hilarious. Ranger, Robinson, Crockett, Coppell, Mart... Are these even real places!?!
And there's no hindsight to it. Terrible hire 100%. You don't go cheap and hire a no name at a place like UK.

Billy Gillispie's journey is kind of like Kenny Powers.
Say what you want but he was everyone's darling when he was picked to replace Tubby.
The job was just to much for him and a good AD would have seen it from the get go. Deep down Billy G is a good man who let the Demon drink get to him.
Hope his life is ok for him.

Very true. But a very smart and wary fan was skeptical of him. Mitch should forever be ashamed for hiring him.
After Tubby, Pee Wee Herman would have been a "darling" if he had replaced him.

I'm glad for Billy Clyde.. Him being hired at Ky was on Ky.. Can't blame him.. Ultimately it destroyed his career as a good but not great coach.. he'd probably still be out there coaching d1 had he'd not came to KY maybe even still at A&M.. We was never even close to elite like you'd expect at KY..
Didn't Billy Clyde travel by rail? For whatever reason every time I think of that guy I think of that Boxcar Billy jpg that someone posted. I haven't seen that in a long time. Billy Clyde is sort of the protagonist in a Greek tragedy. It's hard to not feel a little sorry for the guy, but he was well compensated by Kentucky/Mitch so.........
Truth be told, I always liked Billy G. He was definitely in over his head here, but I never thought for once he wasn't a genuine guy. He had his issues, but we all have our own personal demons throughout life. He has landed on his feet, we've turned out better than ever...it worked out for all parties and I'm glad to see it that way.
Let the bygones be forgotten. That was one chapter in our basketball life. Never wish misfortune for anyone, even if he or she is your enemy.
Remember that he did go undefeated one time in conference play.
