Something the announcer said yesterday made a lot of sense and wonder why UK hasn’t done the same?

When Milroe was struggling so much early in the season, the OC/staff decided to simplify things for him. They decided to move him out of the pocket and basically cut all of his reads to just 1/2 of the field. So everything is right in front of him and he can make quicker decisions.

I know he’s more mobile than Leary, but why can’t UK do something similar for Leary?

Sometimes in the huddle, it takes Leary 8 or more seconds to call the play. So, yes, things need to be simplified.

I'm wondering if the McVay offense is too complicated for a college team to run well. Oregon runs RPO a lot but still throws plenty and they don't seem confused half the time. Michigan runs a pro style offense. Ohio St runs a solid system without taking forever to call a play. Many good teams run an offense that is effective without being overly complicated. Maybe our system is difficult to understand and transfer QBs take most of the season to get it. Without a ton of reps, backups would always struggle which may explain that situation.

I mentioned in another thread but the shifts need to stop.

Shifts and the play call portion of the shift all just need to go. We get very little advantage and we waste too much time. If we need out of the play, we don't have enough time to check.

Line up, motion, and snap.

I’m not sure where most of the blame lies, but everything on the offense has been bad at times. QB, WRs, RBs, and line….all of it. And I know Coen is highly thought of, but we don’t use our TEs in the passing game nearly enough. I guess that’s because our OL is weak and needs the help protecting Leary.

I just wish we had some easy plays to get 10 or 15 yards. Seems every team does it against us, though that’s probably on our defense as much as it is their offense.

The last thing a struggling qb needs is the slowest offense in modern history.

A good hurry up can break up a poor performance and get a qb going. But that would require in game adjustments. That’s a no no in LEX

I think to a point they have. Passing game has definitely improved the last couple weeks. But catching the ball may be the real reason behind that.
