I thought I read coming Mulder stats were 50% fg, 46% from 3(90/190), and 82% ft and 16ppg and 6rbg. He can really shoot the 3 and is 6'5 and can score from inside and out. He sound alot like Devin Booker and hopefully he can fit right in as our 3 point threat next year.
If he doesn't have ***** don't want him regardless of how good he is.![]()
UK needs a high-skill shooter. Mulder gives us that.
Would love to have this kid. Plus, he has two years of eligibility. Can't go wrong with multi-year skill players, as we haven't had many in the program as of late. Would be nice to have Hawkins, Mulder, Lee (crossing fingers), and Willis as seniors; Ulis as a junior (crossing some more fingers); and Matthews as a sophomore.
Cal could throw in a few five stars among them and away we'd go...again.
He started 18 of 35 games. It was mainly just how stacked his team was. #1 in the nation. Nobody on their team started every game. The coach said that he expected 7 guys on the team to play division 1 ball. The article says he started as a Freshman. I have read several posts that he was the 6th man (not a starter) this year on his JC team. Is there some sort of explanation? Love his stats and video, but not a starter and a JC All American?? Odd if true.
In basketball, it's always better to get the 4 year player. For those who don't think so, look at the number of freshmen and sophomores who impact college basketball, compared to the number of juco transfers. At the level where Kentucky schedules and plays, it's rare for a juco to impact. Not unheard of, but rare. Nobody can seriously believe Calipari would be after Mulder if he had snagged Newman or another top high school wing. But given where things now stand, we are lucky that Mulder is interested. Even though he is a backup plan, Mulder will be a nice fit with the returning roster. The key for Kentucky is Diallo. This is not a knock on Poythress, Lee, Willis, or anyone else. All good players. But at this point, anyone who can't see that Diallo is in a different class of player doesn't get it. With Labissiere, Poythress, Lee, and Mulder, we will compete. But if we add Diallo, he would take is to a different level. And I would not underestimate Maker. If Maker enrolls in January, he would have to play next season and the following season to become draft eligible. Maker is a better player than people think. Put Maker under Kenny Payne's teachings for 2 years, and everyone except Rick Pitino will be pleasantly surprised by the results.

A name I keep thinking of in comparing Mulder is Roburt Sallie. He was a Juco guard that BCG was trying to land after his first year. Calipari took a look at him and ended up landing him down at Memphis.
Sallie played about 15 mpg his first year and only scored about 6 ppg (on 47% from 3). Although by the time the post season rolled around he was averaging 25 mpg and about 10 ppg. He hit 10 3 pointers against Cal-State Northridge.
Really like the idea of this guy...I think he gets an unfair bashing from some of our fans who only see stars and not the need for a skilled specialist.
He had 20+ games of multiple 3's last season, 10 in which he hit 4 or more.
Also hit 46% while shooting a large volume of 3s...just sounds great to me, the 3 point looks in our offense are usually open anyways - so I don't care that he shot these %s against JUCOS.
Exactly. Some of these people don't understand some of cals best and funnest teams have had guys just like mulder on them. And Mulder doesn't have sites set on the NBA, which I'm ready for. We need a few guys like Ulis and Mulder. Rodney Carney was awesome, and a three star. Sallie would light it up, not a blue chip. CDR was one of cals best ever, period, not a top 25 prospect. I'll take those over goodwins any day of the week, and I think it's about time cal start evaluating a bit like he used to. Not completely, just a mix. Especially on the shooting end.
Good post, but...
If he chooses UK he will have his sights on the NBA.
