Hawkins player of the game honors.

Hawkins demonstrated poise. He's become a veteran of big games and they don't rattle him like they would have earlier. If he just continues to work on his game, he could be a big factor for the rest of his time at Kentucky. I'm looking forward to seeing it.

Remember when just a few weeks ago everyone was saying, "Hawkins should never shoot again!"? He quieted those doubters today!

I don't have a real problem with POG going to Hawkins due to the number of big plays he made and how unexpected it a was. That being said, though, I rewatched the game this evening, and Ulis' performance was as complete and outstanding as could possibly be expected of a point guard under full court pressure for a full game.

It could go to Hawkins, Ulis, or Poythress. All three came up big.

Well, no.

21 and 8 was clearly the best performance. It's nice that Hawkins made an impact, but his 11 isn't better than somebody else's 21.

This is my point about Cal that i get ripped for...Briscoe doesnt get hurt we never ever see Hawk. CAL has to let these lesser touted players see the court and play thru mistakes...games like this can happen for Hawk Willis Mulder if allowed to play thru it

I don't think you can really blame this entirely on Cal. The problem is that Cal has to teach the young freshmen to grow up as quickly as possible. 15 years ago that wasn't a problem and you could slowly bring those freshmen along because they'd be here for a couple years, but now they have to grow up quickly and help us to win quickly. So, it takes away from the development of the players that aren't as "key." We have to rely on these freshmen so much come March that we have to give them as much clock to prepare them for that. Sometimes we will take losses from it, but that is the nature of the beast.
