I never check out the LHL and haven't seen anything posted here. He would cream his jeans if this story came outta UK.

they usually just pick up the AP reporters story (Gary Graves is the AP sports writer that is who generally covers U of L), and let Mark Story or John Clay do a column if they want one of their writers to cover them.

Nope. He sits around and makes up stories like the one about Patterson's truck or he reads the news to find out if he can dig up any dirt on a player's family.
We know it's not his call Mr. Einstein. When does he fail to chime in with his 2 cents on anyone not coaching UK? If he's the best the LHL can call a BEAT WRITER I wouldn't fill a bird cage with it.
It's NOT HIS JOB to chime in on anyone NOT coaching UK. You apparently don't know what a beat writer is. It isn't a columnist. His job is to cover the UK beat.
He is probably interviewing all the prostitutes in a 25 mile radius of Lexington, to see if UK might be doing the same thing.
In essence, yes. That is the primary job responsibility for a team beat writer. They cover the team and possibly cover the team who they are going to play that week. He doesn't write opinion columns for the HL. Doesn't mean he can't/won't blog his opinions or go on sports TV/radio but it's just not his role. Clay and Story are the columnists.
