Hall of fame ceremony

Yup, very fun to watch. It seemed like about half of the red carpet pre-show was featuring UK--Cal interview, Cousins, Davis, and Wall interview together, and then another interview with Towns. I am recording all the good stuff and will have a video of it ready after everything's over.

Yeah - very emotional. Just an amazing night for so many. Just reinforces Cal's message that basketball can transform lives.

Any kid who passed coming to Kentucky should be kicking themselves in the ass right now (and not just this year). UK on the screen, our current team there, Cal and several past players interviewed, Dampier and Cal to be honored, just wow! Cousins said,"It's a family." And, he was right.

What a treat for the current team to be part of this.

Yeah, I believe there is one more to go before Louie and Cal take the stage. Shouldn't be too much longer now...

Well that Calipari is something. We are extremely fortunate.

Cal was on fire tonight, but as we've gotten used to, he is usually on.

Great recognition of his family, players and his friends...this was quite a coronation for him.

Cal coming to Kentucky has done wonders for his career and our program.

WIN, WIN example.

You are a national treasure.

Coach Cal put on a show last night and put UK in the limelight once again, he is a master at that and a very special kind of speaker. I felt a little bad for Louie last night as you could tell he was very uncomfortable and nervous up there. I don't know if most of you had a chance to read the article about him the other day that was linked on this board but he had a very tough early life when his mom died. That event changed his entire life and he became very introverted in a big way and you could tell he is still kind of that way even now. He and Dan are such close friends and I think it would have been extremely difficult for Louie to be up there last night if he didn't have Dan for support. Two class acts represented the Big Blue Nation last night.

I didn't feel bad for Louie. He's an average joe who wouldn't crack a D1 JV roster these days being inducted into the hall of fame. As far as his nervousness, he seemed like any other regular guy would in that situation. Unable to gather thoughts without reading off and fumbling through pieces of paper. Going in it's not like I expected him to read from a teleprompter and control the crowd like the other paid professional speakers such as Cal, Leslie, etc. In the end Louie came across as a real person, not an evangelist pushing his cause. There were no surprises last night.

It was a powerful moment when Cal was recognizing his family and Erin was trying to hold back the tears. She was physically swaying back and forth as if she was doing everything she could to withstand crying.

You can tell, as the oldest of his children, she's probably been the one who has seen her father get annihilated by the media the most. Her devotion to her father is pretty amazing stuff when you look at how she had defended him over the years. I'm sure her loyalty for him is unparalleled.

No need to pity Louie's podium performance. He had a great opening joke, gave heartfelt thanks throughout and is a UK HOFer for all-time.

Staggeringly bad take, even for you. JV roster, huh?

One thing that kind of got me was during the red carpet nonsense, while nbatv was interviewing Cal, the interviewer said something or other about the support of the fanbase. Cal asked "are they here?" and began looking around as if genuinely hoping to see some. I kinda felt like i let him down somehow, that we let him down, by not being there. The thought never even crossed my mind until that moment, but if i could travel time and tell myself a month ago to get there and support him, even knowing i wouldn't be allowed into the actual event, i would do it.

It was a big moment for him, one of the biggest of his career. Good for him, he deserves the honor. And shame on me.
