Another site says this kid will be visiting this weekend for the scrimmage. He is a 3 star that has no offer yet. They say he expects to get one and could commit this weekend. All crystal ball picks have him coming to UK. Anyone know anything about this kid? I am at work and can't watch videos, but, someone said he looks like a mix of Hartline and Towles and appears to be able to read the defense well and throws a very nice ball.

From Dublin, Ohio, UK recruiting a couple others from his HS. Don't see the Hartline/Towles comparision, doesn't have their size or Towles arm strength. Probably 6'2-6'3. Think Reece Phillips. Is a 5.5 Rivals 3* and offer sheet is weak to this point, Cincy and MAC schools. Don't see why UK would be in a rush to jump on him.

He is visiting this weekend. His dad played at OSU and that's his dream school but they have not offered. He's 6-4 and about 200. Needs to get stronger. But he's a solid QB. Has a good accurate arm and has some scrambling ability but he's not a dual threat guy. I liked his HUDL film better than DeWeaver mostly because he seems to be a more accurate passer. He completed almost 67% of his passes as a Jr. I think DeWeaver was about 50%. He does not have a "cannon" but it's good enough. He plays for a Ohio Div1 program and is rated the number two QB in Ohio. When you get home check out his hudl film.

UK will also be hosting a ton of players from Tennessee tomorrow including a 4 star QB.

65% completion rate. 15.1 yards per completion and almost 10 yards per attempt while playing against big Ohio high schools like Canton McKinley. Those are great numbers for a QB running UK's offense. Pretty easy to see why UK is interested.

For some perspective, Messiah DeWeaver only completed 49% and averaged 2.4 yards less per attempt. Hoak has great touch and can really hit the crossing patterns behind the LBs. In film I watched he completed a 35 yard out and two passes 50-55 yards down field. His arm strength is better than some think. More often he chooses to throw with touch. That explains high completion rate.

Looks pretty skilled to me. You can't expect to load a roster with 4-5 star QB's and hold on to them yet at UK. If he wants to come in and compete with some higher rated kids for a job, and is likely to stick with the program regardless of whether he wins the starting job, then I say he is exactly the kind of kid you need to bring in occasionally at QB, and yes, on scholly. Again, see Reese Phillips. Bottom line: if you can't win the job, it is unlikely you need to worry about Sunday playing time, so maybe you should stick around, get your education, keep working hard, and enjoy the ride. Maybe, when you least expect it, you become a folk hero.

Does not hurt that we are recruiting two of his teammates as well. I like the sound of 2nd best QB in OH Div 1

Hoak reminds me of the Michigan State QBs we've seen for the past decade. Good, not great but is adequate and makes most of the routine throws. MSU has won a lot of games with that philosophy. One thing that did stand out is he throws pretty well on the move. Fortunately he wouldn't be forced into action early, probably 2-3 years away.

He leads his WR and TE perfectly so they don't break stride. Love his passes in the flat because the WR isn't jumping up in the air to get it or stepping back a yard. His lead the WR who is 3-5 yards down the field. Never could understand why other teams pass in the flat getting the WR starting to run and we always had the WR stopped to catch the ball.

2016 quarterback Gunnar Hoak picked up an offer from UK today. He's in town for a campus visit. No. 35 QB in the class.

i like his tape better than deweaver as well. he reads defenses well. you can see him go through progressions. he has a really quick release and good enough arm strength. i dont like his accuracy as much as kendalls but he is a really good looking prospect, just not elite. 6'4" (thats good height). he does have wheels. not gonna confuse anyone with rg3 but he's also not tom brady slow.

This young man looks really good, accurate, decent runner, he will get stronger and faster. He has composure, and real good football IQ. Hope we land him !

He doesn't seem to be in a hurry decide. Perhaps he recognizes that with so many QB's picking that he'll be a prized commodity down the line. If so, smart.
