Given we have some more news on who’s coming back and who’s going, I thought it’d be fun to break down next years roster. Here’s where I feel like we stand with guys right now.

First off who’s gone?

Definitely Leaving:
F Cam’Ron Fletcher
G Terrence Clarke
G BJ Boston

Likely Leaving:
F Isaiah Jackson (Declared)
F Oliver Sarr
——————————————
Who’s locked in?

Incoming Players:
C/PF Oscar Tshiebwe
G Kellan Grady
F Daimion Collins
F Bryce Hopkins
G Nolan Hickman

Definitely Returning:
G Dontaie Allen
G Devin Askew
F Lance aware
F Jacob Toppin
—————————————
Could Go Either Way:
F Keion Brooks
G Davion Mintz

—————————————
Possible Other New Additions:
G Justin Powell (Transfer)
G Skyy Clark (reclassify)

Do you like our team? What are your all’s thoughts? I personally am hopeful this is the beginning of the end of the one and done era so I’m pretty excited.

Pippen jr from vandy. He said UK was his dream school. Kid was tough as nails. Steal him and play him 25-28 minutes. Askew 15 or do.

People keep bringing up Pippen's name but has he put his name in as a transfer ?

It is purely speculation when looking at the overall landscape; people are anticipating that Stackhouse could be fired after this year. If not this year, most likely next year.

More than likely Vanderbilt will not be very good again next year; this has caused speculation that Pippen Jr. could seek a transfer to a better program and team for not only a chance to be competitive, but to also increase his image and appeal from greater national exposure and coverage.

It would make sense for Pippen Jr. to take the lead guard role at UK next season to better increase his exposure to help boost his stock in the 2022 Draft; he will most likely leave after next year, so a year at Kentucky would help with all of that.

Another name to watch: Marcus Carr—point guard from Minnesota. With Lil’ Pitino being fired today, it would make sense for that young man to transfer to another high-level program for the same reasons as Pippen Jr.

Both scenarios are something to watch over the next couple of months.

Get either of those guys, and that solves our issue at point guard. Add at least one more shooter—possibly two if Boston declares for the Draft, maybe even three more if we lose Mintz—and that should help solidify next years team.

The potential scenarios I mentioned is where Jimmy Dykes got his “seven or eight” new faces to the program next season.

No but if he wants a shot at a national program he may be interested. Kid is a bull dog. Would seem perfect for us. I think if they ok the immediate eligibility from conference teams he may jump ship. I know we struggled this year but vandy is hopeless

Marcus Carr would be a grand slam. There's been rumors for a couple weeks he'd transfer and he's certainly got a spot here if he wanted to come. First-team All Big Ten, 19 ppg and set the single-season Minnesota assists record.

No clue who this guy is and how legit he is, but he seems to follow Canada players pretty closely and has tweeted about Carr in the past. Carr is from Toronto.

Transfers:
Pippen or Carr from Minny as a transfer PG
Powell as a transfer shooter

New Guys:
Tshiebwe
Collins
Hopkins
Hickman

Returners:
Allen
Askew
Toppin
Brooks
Ware
Mintz

Thats a 12 man lineup I would be happy to roll with.

Lineup:
Pippen (or Carr) / Askew / Hickman
Mintz / Allen
Powell / Toppin
Brooks / Ware / Hopkins
Tshiebwe / Collins

I agree I though he and Cooper were the best PG's in the SEC this year. IF he was to come and play for UK it would help this team a lot.

I think the following return:
Cal
Joel
Tony
Brusier
Jai
Robic

It doesn’t matter who stays or comes in, if the offense isn’t fixed.

Still leaves us needing an elite PG, no one coming in or back is John Wall. Also remains to be see. How we adjust our offense. I certainly believe we'll be better than 9 wins next year, but plenty of legitimate questions about what our realistic ceiling is as of today. Alot can change between now and November.

Askew
Allen
Ware
Oscar
Hickman
Hopkins
Collins

Is that a tournament team? I think it would be close.

Thats the 7 we have committed for next yr.

My realistic yet hopeful prediction:

Starters

G Mintz
G Powell
G Allen
F Toppin
F Tshiebwe

Bench

G Askew
G Hickman
F Brooks
F Hopkins
F Collins
F Ware

Need Mintz back. I don’t see us getting an elite PG, so Mintz is our best bet at the 1. Mintz plus Powell and Allen at the 2 and 3 spreads the floor and gives Tshiebwe room to operate. Toppin needs to work on his perimeter skills this summer to be a stretch 4 for us.

I think that is our best bet for next year.

If Brooks and Mintz come back that’s basically a wrap, that’s 11. Which leads me to believe 1 or both is gone and maybe Ware or Askew are nicely asked to move on.

We need to either return Mintz or add Powell/Clark/another transfer PG.

I am hopeful we return Brooks though the thought of Brown is intriguing.

Your breakdown + either Mintz/Brooks or 2 transfers puts us at 11 deep. I like the team as long as we have a PG!

IMO, we need to:
ADD a transfer PG (my first choices are Abmas, or Pippen, neither of which has gone into the portal)
RETURN Mintz, OR ADD Powell or another 2G/SF swingman transfer
RETURN Brooks, or Jackson (ideal but unlikely), or Sarr (very longshot), OR ADD a transfer 4/5 guy, BUT would take BEST AVAILABLE transfer here

Some think we already have too much front court, but I think we could use one more, we have:
- Oscar T (4/5, basically a short 5)
- Collins (4/5, offense may need some work)
- Ware (4/5, hard worker, but not much offense)
- Toppin (3/4, not shoot well enough to be a 3, not strong enough for a 4)
- Hopkins (3/4, short for a 4, but from what I've read not really a 3 either)

Backcourt:
- Hickman (1, but not highly rated so probably not impact as a FR)
- Askew (1/2, I think he will be better, enough to contribute, but still not starter)
- Grady (2, some say he's a 1, but I don't think so unless you are really hurting at the 1)
- Allen (2/3, probably closer to a 3)

That leaves up to 4 spots, but I don't expect all 4 to be filled.
