Postel was told to fire Pitino after the sex scandal which he didn't have nerve to do. Now he says they have 0 tolerance for unethical behavior and rules violations. Very weak man used like a pawn.
It's all about saving money. Would you fire someone if you could wait 10 days and do it while saving millions?

Postel handled it the way he should have. Pitino has a contract that requires 10 days notice if UofL plans to fire him for just cause. A stupid contract but Postel had no choice but to do it this way or UofL would have had to pay Pitino over 40 million severance.Postel was told to fire Pitino after the sex scandal which he didn't have nerve to do. That's my understanding,I think you have that wrong, the rumor was Postel told Jurich to fire Pitino and Jurich refused.
If that's true, Postel should have fired both of them then.I think you have that wrong, the rumor was Postel told Jurich to fire Pitino and Jurich refused.
Well apparently it must be a board decision, and even with Jurich’s recommendation the board could have still refused... not that that occurred. If that's true, Postel should have fired both of them then.
I think you guys are misreading the OP. He said after the SEX scandal. He's right too. Postel let the inmates run the asylum WHILE they were on probation. Imagine funneling 100K to a recruit coming off the mother of all scandals (to date).
I think that is what he is in the process of doing. Gotta dot the I's and cross the T's because millions are at stake. The amount of money at stake is a perfect example of why we are seeing the corruption we are in college athletics. If that's true, Postel should have fired both of them then.
Maybe the article I read today was wrong but it said a BOD member, maybe Grimes?, told Postel to fire Pitino after the sex scandal. Lot of time since then, much more than 10 days. Why would a BOD member tell him to do it if it wasn't the smart thing to do?Pretty sure Ramsey was the president when the sex scandal went down so Postel wasn't in charge of that decision. Apparently Postel wanted to fire Rick as soon as he was appointed interim president but Jurich wouldn't back him up on it and neither would the corrupt board members.
really missing the picture herePostel was told to fire Pitino after the sex scandal which he didn't have nerve to do. Now he says they have 0 tolerance for unethical behavior and rules violations. Very weak man used like a pawn.
I'm talking about back when the stripper gate happened and Jurich refused to fire Pitino.I think that is what he is in the process of doing. Gotta dot the I's and cross the T's because millions are at stake. The amount of money at stake is a perfect example of why we are seeing the corruption we are in college athletics.
Gotcha. According to Terry Meiners, Jurich refused to fire Pitino even after this latest scandal with the FBI. Unbelievable!!!!I'm talking about back when the stripper gate happened and Jurich refused to fire Pitino.
So Postel goes thru the chain of command and tells Jurich to fire him, and he won't. I think Jurichs days were numbered and this was the only choice.Maybe the article I read today was wrong but it said a BOD member, maybe Grimes?, told Postel to fire Pitino after the sex scandal. That is going to be the easy part of this. No way he can wiggle out of this one, he is in quicksand that is now over his head. ToastI think you're confused. They have to wait 10 days to fire him regardless of what he did. And firing him doesn't mean they don't have to pay him. His contract, IIRC, pays unless he is directly implicated in the violations.
