Kentucky 3FG% after 9 games: 27.5%. UK 3FG% after 9 games last season: 29.5%. Finished the year at 34.9.

If Ulis finishes the season shooting 28% on 3s I'll wear an “I (HEART) THE RPI” t-shirt.

That is because Booker had such a hideous start, then could not miss for like a month. I don't know if we have anyone that will get that hot. Also, Ulis shot much better last year.

It seems we're not as good a three-point shooting team as we initially expected we would be. However I seriously, seriously doubt Ulis and Murray won't have a much better percentage by the end of the year.

Not to mention, when that team went cold, you could depend on WCS and KAT to carry the defense and grab boards. We don't really have that kind of presence this year. At least, not yet.

No interior play this year at all--who is best post threat/post up player? You get best 3pt shots off inside/out action offensively--and that's why Skal's being force fed post touches. I think Poythress is kid I'd post up or Briscoe (he's such a great interior player and substandard shooter). Murray will hit shots--right now he has habit of turning body a bit much and also doesn't hold follow through enough imo--but he's a shooter and Ulis has to take open shots--they'll fall more--but also give UK chance for easy putbacks. Too much dribbling from Tyler.

Mulder is the ? mark for me. Does UK swallow pride and go to the Wiltjer route? Let him come in--suck on defense but get some 3's up--because I do see that role as being potentially best use of a JC transfer who struggles on defense. Thing is, Mulder is about 6'4-6'5 where Kyle had the height. Just think Cal needs to let him get in for about 2-3 minutes and take that role or at least try it. If it flops--what's the harm?

Really shocked at our 3pt shooting. Would completely open things up for us, open up the lane, and let our guards penetrate and set up easy buckets for the bigs down low. Right now all we're seeing are annoying packed in zones. I still think we're going to start hitting them, but can't say I'm not pretty surprised at how bad we've been so far. Also Skal is ridiculously raw. Just looks completely lost out there about half the time he's on the court. Might take him a while to develop, just hope he's at least respectable by March.

Problem is he was hot at the wrong time. Cooled off in the NCAAs. All the talk about 3-point shooting right now will be forgotten if we get hot in March, when it is live or die. I could see Murray being just as hot from behind the arc in the NCAAs as Justice Winslow last year, maybe hotter.

Derek needs to start hitting. Briscoe being a 2/3 and totally unable to hit a three puts pressure on everyone else, IMHO. (I love Briscoe, just sayin)

I think not having a go-to scorer on the block has hurt too. We have no inside-out game right now, which makes it harder to get good perimeter looks.

We don't really penetrate and kick much either, which I suspect is conscientious coaching. We drive to get to the rim at all costs, much like we did in the Twins' first season. I think that's a product of Cal wanting to really take advantage of the freedom of movement rules, just as it was back then.

We're still finding ourselves.

Ralph said it best. Until the inside game starts to flourish our guards will be taking bad shots. If the bugs start getting more productive I think it will open up for some easier outside shots
Just like running the ball in football. It opens up the passing game.

Murray , Willis and Ulis wil all be 40-45% 3 pts shooters for their careers so they can shot they just are all in slumps right now. Mulder can shoot better then any of them but he has problems learning both the D and O so he will have to wait til next season IMO . Poythress has shown he is a decent from 3 as has Briscoe but just not shown it this season yet. I think we will have some games where we go 8-13 from 3 but we will also have games where we go 3-12 as well . WE never will have games where we shoot 20 unless Murray is just in the zone . My lone concern for this team is a post offense . Lee and Poy are doing amazing jobs at clean ups and dunks ect but we need a guy we can feed in the post at the end of game and we don't have that now . But to be honest we didn't have that last year til mid January with Towns as he sucked at this time of the year as well.
