I hope we can leave a certain someone out of this long enough to appreciate your post. Excellent points. Excellent post.I'm sure fans of other schools would disagree with me, but I think Booker is absolutely right. Just look at what these current Cats are dealing with. They came out this season scoring more than anyone else in the nation but struggle with defense. They get everyone's best shot. They lose 3 games in a row at Rupp and get shamed by all. You think anyone feels sorry for them? Not even a little. Not even their fans.
I tell people this all the time- coming to Kentucky prepares these guys for the NBA in multiple ways. But the biggest way is this: they are prepared to deal with the pressure of having a huge magnifying glass examining every detail of their lives. They are prepared for every game being life and death and being under the spotlight by the local and national media. They are prepared for having a constant need for improvement, because every other player and team is gunning for you.
Our guys thrive in the NBA because UK is the gold standard and our own fans will love you and hate you all within the same game. I don't think any other team can say the same things. Duke, UNC, and Kansas are all the spoiled rotten momma's boys of the sport. They get to the league and can't handle the pressure and the brutal honesty. Our guys are used to it. Just read this forum for 5 minutes. We'll tell you every flaw of every player and we'll grill them incessantly until they improve, or we'll send them away with no mercy. Win or leave!

And it's not even close on how they've done. Just compare over the same period of time. I do have to say, the past 2 years the Duke big guys joining the league have done pretty well so far.For the life of me i’ll never understand how we could ever lose a big man recruit to Duke under Calipari and somehow it keeps happening. It’s just one of the most ridiculous decisions at this point. We had 4 former centers and power forwards in this All Star game alone counting Randle who didn’t play because he was hurt. Dukes last great big man in the NBA was Elton Brand.
Meanwhile Towns, Davis and Cousins are all multi year All Stars with multiple 50 point games in their careers.
And i haven’t even talked about our guards. “Kentucky guards” has become a phrase commonly uttered when talking about the nba now. And in a very good way.
