Newman would be the first elite guard UK had landed since Brandon Knight. By "elite", I mean a high lottery pick.

I obviously hope we get as many top players as we can, but this has always been the guy I've wanted most. There's just something about Malik's game that screams this is the guy. His mid-range game is lethal. He's great at getting to the bucket and he's a decent 3 point shooter, but his mid-range game is just filthy. He has it all from there. Just go and watch his U17 games. He's the real deal. I don't care if he's not a 6ft 6 2-guard. There is just something special about this player.

I think he's holding off because he knows picking UK will hurt some feelings down there. Unless his dad winds up with a MSU job I expect Newman here.

If his father being a coach for Miss State is ultimately the difference, I'd just as much prefer UK offer Webster the 4th coaching spot for a season - or as long as Newman is at UK.

He might as well. Every other school does that sort of thing. Remember Chris Duhon's mother and the job she was offered at Duke which she took and kept until Chris left for the NBA?

hell his 3pt shot is as filthy as they come . he has unlimited range .

this . he will shot around 42-45% from 3 in college as he won't have to take as many bad shots. He is a shooter in the vein of Knight . Not Booker or Delk league but damn amazing none the less.

Said he was not going to sign LOI, just scholarship papers. Even if we get him, going to have to get another good scorer just in case.

If you expect him to shoot 42-45% from 3 you are crazy.

Show me those stats because in the EYBL he shot it bad 41fg and 29% 3pt. I suspect the EYBL is closer to what he is.
