Cats were impressive once again. Every time we made a run, UK made a play or hit a big three.

Well done.

Hope y'all win the Title this year.

Classy post especially after an ungly game.......

Classy post. Thank you. Your guys played a helluva game.

I thought Vanderbilt played a great game. I was not expecting the game to be this close. You guys shot the ball well, but I didn't think our kids played with sustained energy. Maybe they overlooked Vandy a bit.

This. I was not impressed with UK at all. Credit Vandy though, they hit all those open 3's that we let them get in the 2nd half.

There is going to be games like this tonight. We were saying this after the first 2 SEC games and the TA&M game and then we blow out Missouri and Bama and played well in both games. I just think it was off night but we still battled and everytime they would cut the lead to 4 we answered with a 3 or a big play. We are not going to win every game by 30-40 points and I am sure Cal will make adjustments after he looks at the game.

We missed a lot of open threes too fwiw.

For those that say UK wasn't impressive, I disagree. Your team is long, athletic and active every single night. I was impressed.

Vandy has and impressive big man and a couple of very good 3 point shooters. They did about as well as I could have expected them to. We just made big boy plays down the stretch to ice it.

My thought also, Vandy played a good game. Our offense tonight was not that great.

That sums it up pretty well. There is so much talent on UK's team, you can beat people with defense and rebounding alone. We finally knocked down some shots in the 2nd half and made it a contest only to have one of the Harrison twins hit huge shots to ice the game.

Key to Vandy having a shot to win at the end was Stallings choosing the whole game (as all others seem to have) not to collapse on our bigs and instead bait them and their lack of back-to-the-basket offensive skill try to score.

While I don't like Stallings I have to admit he does more with a little talent than almost anyone in College BB.

Never heard this thought, but that makes sense.

Yeah, no zone tonight. Interesting to say the least.

Is Towns the only back to the basket guy on the team?

Man, it's on next year! Can't wait. We return everyone and add a couple of really good pieces (one of which is Cam Justice, a Kentucky boy who can fill it up).

Cheers!

Freida, UK looked like crap tonight. It was not a good game. Vandy's physicality had much to do with that though. Vandy played well, making most of their open shots and hitting some with a hand in the face.

It's too bad Vandy and all these other crappy SEC teams can't play against everyone on their schedule like they play against UK, as if their lives depended on it. If they did, we wouldn't have to drag this sorry conference along and we might get some national respect. As it is, every game is a no win scenario for UK.

If we beat your crappy team, it's ho hum. of we lose, or even play close, we suck.

Here's a suggestion- play EVERY game like it matters OR play us like you play everyone else. At least then there would be some consistency. I get sick of being the only game out of 10 a team plays hard.

Wow, that is probably the most pathetic post I've ever read from you. We are young and have been extremely inconsistent so far. I think we'll get better as the year goes on, but tonight was no great performance from us.

FYI, we played well, but shot it less than average (Kornet in particular missed 4 wide open 3's). We also get to the line more than our opponents and that certainly wasn't the case tonight.

I would love to play you guys again. Y'all are very very good.

This game ticked me off Freida, plain and simple. We should have won by 20 or more
But you caught us at a good time, feeling cocky after beating Alabama on the road and coming home to the home court. The effort and energy just wasn't there tonight defensively. That was the differemce. I supppse if I lived to please you with my posts I'd be bothered you're disappointed. But as I say, I'm just mad about this game. So it's probably not the best time to talk to me.

What I don't understand about some of our posters is that Vandy is not that bad of a team. They had a lost a couple of players the last 2 years and right now they are very young team. They played a nice Non Conference Schedule and was beaten by Baylor by 3, Rutgers by 3, and Georgia Tech by 5 and was 11-3 before they hit this 4 game losing streak. They lost UGA by 3, Miss. State by 3 and they were leading most of that game, and on the road to Arkansas and now UK. They Jones in the middle and 2-3 players that can knock down jumpers and 3 point shots. Matthew-Fisher Davis was 4-7 from 3 and LaChance was 3-4 from 3. UK just had an off night tonight but still pulled the Win to go to 18-0. Vandy always seems to give Kentucky fits in every game we play them. I still thought our Defense looked good except for the Davis kid hitting those 4-7 3's in the 2nd half that kept it close.

"FYI, we played well, but shot it less than average (Kornet in particular missed 4 wide open 3's). We also get to the line more than our opponents and that certainly wasn't the case tonight."

Kornet missed but most others made plays. Don't tell me that was less than average. So Kornet usually makes 2 or 3 out of 4?? I doubt it. I admit I was wrong when I said you wouldn't make a game of it. Hope we get you in the SEC tourney. Then we'll see.

You just have to give Vandy and Coach Stallings credit as they just flat out played harder than us. As Kashman said, Stallings does a great job with less talent.

Yeah, for the VU fan to say they played below average is comical. By that logic, UK played its F- game and still won by 8 (really 10 if Cal would let our guys dunk ahead of the buzzer as they could have).

You were 7-17 from 3 and we pounded it inside all night. That's not below average.

The difference was we missed 11 free throws. If we make half of our misses we win by 13.

We are young, and while I don't know (or care) about Vandy's youth I know that it is safe to assume that they are NOT younger than we are. Young excuse is never plausible against us because when we were young and losing games we didn't get to play that card.

1) We don't have a roster full of McDonald's All Americans, so youth is actually a logical excuse. Hopefully, these guys continue to get better and as everybody returns, we should have a better team next year.

2) As of the Arkansas game Vanderbilt was the youngest team in NCAA basketball. I think we are like the 4th youngest now.

Thanks for the compliment! Good luck down the road against anyone but UK! Vandy has had a lot of good Kentucky boys over the years including one from my hometown Joe Ford, part of the F-troop and several from Marshall Co.

BTW, Freida lost the number to Alan Stanwyk's realtor in Utah...you mind looking that up for me?

Good game by Vanderbilt. I thought they played well. We didn't play as good as I thought we could have, but that's the way it goes. As Cal says, they're not machines.

In response to people saying Vanderbilt did not have a below average night: they've had something like a 50% shooting percentage on the season, so it was a below average shooting night for them.

A handful of our free throws were in the final 30 seconds or so. But you're intelligent. You knew that.

If by handful, you mean 2, then you would be correct.

It was 27-10 in free throws with 3 minutes to go.

And as stated (some need to read), I wasn't bitching about us getting hosed, I just think it's hilarious about UK fans whining about getting hosed when they got 20, yes 20 more free throws than Vandy did.

Super ironic and myopic.
