Few is a better in-game coach and he's better at building a roster of players to play together. As a matter of fact, I can't say that I've seen a coach all year that Cal's out-coached. Cal's lazy and refuses to put in the work to recruit the "right" combination of players to form a cohesive squad. His rosters are based on "star-ranking", determined by others outside the program. He's way too comfortable and over-paid to consider that actually putting in the hard work might be the difference maker. That said, he's probably too stupid to realize it.… and won.
He’ way behind Wooden, Dean Smith and Huckleberry Hound.Bill Self is arguably the best & most successful cheater in colllege basketball history.
I actually thought Reeves should have made the 2nd free throw. That puts us down 1 with 4.1 seconds to go. Foul immediately and you have about 3.5 seconds to go after they take their free throws. It's a hell of a lot harder to make the 2st free throw, get the offensive rebound and then score than it is to hit a single 3 point shot.
Especially since we were getting killed on the boardsI actually thought Reeves should have made the 2nd free throw. That puts us down 1 with 4.1 seconds to go. Foul immediately and you have about 3.5 seconds to go after they take their free throws.
I feel like the percentages are better that you can make a shot to tie/won the game with 3.5 seconds left than missing a free throw on purpose and hoping to get the rebound and score.
As much as I’m fed up with Cal, I had no problem with going ahead and missing there. Gonzaga had already shown their hand that they’d foul up 3, so if they made both free throws, you’d just be back in the same spot, except making the first wouldn’t be guaranteed and you’d have less time to get a good shot if you did manage the offensive rebound. Even if they missed one, 3 seconds isn’t much time to go the length of the floor and get a good look. There were no high percentage options at that point, but we probably went with one that at worst gave us about the same chance as the others and may have been slightly more likely.I actually thought Reeves should have made the 2nd free throw. Yeah..I’m not saying what he did was outrageous, just that I bet if you looked at the percentages, I think full court might be more successful. Both of them are long shots regardless. As much as I’m fed up with Cal, I had no problem with going ahead and missing there. I was shocked the announcers thought it was a given to miss intentionally. I’m with you though and was at the time. 4 seconds, Zags were out of timeouts I think. Go for a 5 sec or turnover on the inbounds or foul right away. If you end up having to foul you’re probably one missed high pressure free throw away from having 3 seconds to get a 3 for the win(assuming they wouldn’t have been able to get all the way to the rim).I actually thought Reeves should have made the 2nd free throw. There was 5 seconds left when they fouled himI am ALWAYS team foul when up 3. But there was a difference in this game vs the Florida one. There was 5 seconds left at the start of the play tonight while there were 13 in the UF game.
The fouling premise is always right but the timing and situation for execution tonight were much simpler.
