9 games in it’s kinda hard to see which direction this could go. I think pitching has been a pleasant surprise. How that carries over to SEC play, it’s hard telling. I still don’t know what type of offense/identity Kentucky wants or has. It seems, and I’ll be honest here, I haven’t got to watch too many games. But it’s feast or famine. It’s either long ball or nothing. Now again, that could be just the small sample I’ve seen. I hope UK can be successful in league play. But my confidence is shaky at best.
Offense is bottom 4 for sure... pitching is middle of the pack at least... watched a ton of SEC baseball the last 3 weeks and it really can go either way... bad but timely hitting can get wins... we have been bad and not timely but that can change... LSU just lost 2-3 this weekend... MIZZOU can’t pitch or hit... Not giving up yet
No, I think you're nailing it. If we hit home runs we score a lot, but we've struggled to string together hits and just put constant pressure on the opponent. That despite the competition being lackluster at best.
That seems to be a yearly thing though. Hitting in the SEC may very well be a struggle. But what’s maddening is the amount of strikeouts this team has. Well, not the amount. But when they happen.
I'm a very positive fan. That being said, I think we'll struggle to get 8-9 wins. I certainly hope I'm 100% wrong.
I think UK will get at least 8-9 total wins. 🥴
(I’m confident you meant conference wins. Not total)
Now, as for conference wins. That may be a stretch. For any chance of a successful conference season, UK has to win 2 of 3 against Mizzou. A sweep would be best but if you lose that series or even get swept, it could be a long rest of the year at KPP.
That is super impressive. Limit mistakes and walks are a huge one that plague college pitchers.Kentucky pitchers 𝙇𝙀𝘼𝘿 𝙏𝙃𝙀 𝙉𝘼𝙏𝙄𝙊𝙉 in strikeout-to-walk ratio (100-to-17) out of 261 teams.
We are 3rd in fewest walks allowed per nine innings and 9th in ERA.
