Getting ready to make reservations at the Boulders in Carefree Arizona and it got me to thinking about all the different courses I have played in the last 40 years. Most senicc was probably Kapalua in Maui. What is yours?

Melrose Golf Club on Dafuskie Island was pretty incredible.

Most scenic - Ko'olau Golf Club on Oahu. Cut out of a rainforest with amazing mountain and ocean views. Also, by far the toughest course I have played. At one point it had the highest slope rating in the country.

Kapalua Plantaition was visually stunning. #18 makes you feel like you can hit it a country mile

My Most Senicc is probably Seneca.

La Costa in San Diego
Valhalla

I've played some nice courses, but not many that have breathtaking views

Wolf Creek in Nevada is probably the most scenic, but it was a bit Mickey Mouse.

Valhalla is probably the best.

Locally I like Wasiota Winds down in Pineville. There are a few picturesque holes there.

The nicest I ever played was "The King and The Bear" down in St Augustine. Fresh apples at the 1st and 9th. Boys to clean your clubs after you're done. I haven't played nicer courses before. Made me uneasy to play there since it was so nice.

Can this even be the Paddock - 11 posts in and nobody has played Augusta, Pebble Beach, Spyglass, or hell even a TPC Phoenix or Louisiana?

Don't know about scenic, but Briar's Creek in Johns Island SC, and Camp Creek in Rosemary Beach, FL are two of my all time favorites.

Does that mean I am up a creek?

Haven't played Briars Creek but have played the Ocean Course at Kiawah.

I've played Harbor Town and the course is so-so, but the 18th hole is definitely up there.

That (and Mason Headley) is where I learned to play the game. Don't be dissing the Brook. You really can learn shot making skills, hitting irons off rock hard dirt lies.

I concur. I would much rather pony up a little more cash and play over on Dafuskie Island or save my money and play another good course on HHI. But it was worth it to play once. 18th hole is pretty cool.

My favorite course is Troon North in Scottsdale. I forget what they call the two courses there but i enjoyed playing both. Very scenic and the weather was perfect both times I played there.

Not dissing it at all. Used to love that place.

Played Pebble Beach in 1989. Only time I've ever played with a caddie. Don't recall the exact greens fees at that time because our vendor was paying but I want to say it was about $250. It'll set you back $495 today. I wonder if Golfnow ever has any hot deals??? LOL.

If you ever get an opportunity to play Long Cove on HHI, do it. Super private, so need to know someone to get on. My brother was Assistant Superintendent there and it's a beautiful course. Best course on the Island period. For value, I like Hilton Head national off the island. Cheap and a nice course. My dad is a marshall there. Heading there next week to hit the links for a few days.

Kenlake in Aurora, KY is pretty sweet...

I haven't played in almost 5 years. I sort of miss playing, but just don't have time to hit balls, practice and play 2-3 rounds a week the way I want to play. I ended up rushing though a quick 18 once a week with Dad and I just didn't get what I wanted out of it.

Probably the nicest course I've every played would be one in Gulf Shores and I don't remember the names (just a quick 20 years ago).

I wouldn't say they are the most scenic but the most significant courses I have played are St. Andrews, Royal Troon, and Carnoustie. My dad, my brother and myself took a golf trip to Scotland about 10 years ago. The courses and the history were amazing. A memory of a lifetime for me.

I played Pebble Beach and Spanish Bay on back-to-back days about 10-12 years ago. My buddy was getting married, and one of the other groomsmen worked in the clubhouse, so they got us on the course at the crack of dawn. Fantastic courses, but playing them that early in the morning was like playing in pea soup until the fog lifted. Crack a drive, and it would just die in all the moisture.

I have played Long Cove. My brother lives on HHI and I have played just about every course there.

He is friends with several golf pros and asst. pros on and off the island including Ben Chevhal (sp?) who was the assistant pro there at the time. Great course. Got to play it for free. Well...I wound up picking up the tab at Reilly's for Ben & his fiance later that night so it wasnt exactly free i guess. But Ben is a cool dude. Not sure if he is still there though. I think he got a better gig.

And I concur on Hilton Head National. It's off the island but probably best bang for your buck. Nice course. I am also partial to Old South (also off island) because I used to play it for free all the time. But make sure it is high tide...or some really nice holes on the intercoastal on the front side wind up being not much at all. Haven't played Old South in about 3 years though...so i have no idea what condition it is in. Seems like I remember hearing that they screwed up the greens. May have been another course though...not sure.

Also played Long Cove back in the day...along with basically every other course on HHI.

Oyster Reef was our 'home' course, but Old South was always my favorite. Some cool ass holes out there.

Indigo Run was cool too, like it a lot better than Hilton Head National

Robert Cupp ---------> weirdest course of all time.
