Gilmore commits

Assuming we can get our OLine squared away like they were under Schlarman, the skill players will perform miracles for UK. When Coen bolts in (hopefully) a few years, we'll have an enticing cast of offensive personnel to draw a big name replacement in.

Coen is electric, this commitment is huge, and dammit, I'm ready for college football.

Great pickup - 4-star receiver out of Florida with a ton of big offers.

Where does this put the 2024 class?
42 but 29 in average star rating. All but two teams above us have more recruits; considering we have a kicker in the group and 10 open slots this ranking will rise. I know it doesn’t mean a lot to some people but it’s fun to follow.

Hard to believe how much Coen has turned the WR and QB room around, we’ve gone from the bottom to one of the best future groups in the conference. That’s going to win you a lot of fb games.
Year before Coen, Ali had 53 catches for 480 yards in 11 games. Upshaw had 16 catches for 198 and the next receivers were Dailey and Harris with 14 catches each for 139 and 87 yards. Year before that we were playing Bowden at QB and year before that, with healthy QB, our 2nd WR behind Bowden was Bouvier at 16 catches for 209.

Yeah, we had an absolutely pitiful passing game. But the future (including this year) looks very bright.

Most of Stoops tenure UK struggled to recruit at the WR position (besides Lynn Bowden and a few others) but Coen has completely turned it around. Also getting Wandale to transfer a few years ago was big too. With Coen here I dont think the skill positions will ever be much of a concern.

The defense will always be good but if you want to truly take the next step (potential playoff birth) you gotta get some big time playmakers and obviously a good QB to get them the ball.

So does Gilmore line up at a slot or outside WR spots? (I'll predict he lands at Dane Keys spot eventually).

In fact, 29 of the 41 listed above us on Rivals have 20 or more commitments.

This will be a good class.

In honor of today’s commitment, let’s just say we are trending in the right direction, but hardly finished with this Class!

I have no source on this, but I hope Coen hangs around and takes the HC job when Stoops leaves. Stoops has been here for what? 10 years? thats a long time at a school like Kentucky

Stoops isn't leaving anytime soon. He's finally got what he has always lacked - great quarterback play & offensive coordinator. He will enjoy this!
Stoops. Coen. White. Marrow. Woodward. Boulware. Gran. Buffano. Stewart. Yenser. Collins. Stoops. My friends that is a VERY, VERY, VERY good football staff! I hope we can keep all of them around for several years - if we do - can you say PLAYOFFS?????

GO BIG BLUE!!!!!!!

Coen as HC, Woodward as OC, and... Unknown DC - based on the "known" 2/3, wouldn't be half bad. Maybe a Lincoln Riley scenario with a hungry OC grabbing a HC position by the horns. Sounds good on paper. Yet to be seen whether Coen could make it as a HC, but definitely fun to think about.

I'm generally anti-"coach-in-waiting" after the Joker debacle, but I definitely see the merit of a Coen future. That or a Brad White future. Or a Sumrall future. Part of why I love Stoops' is that he honestly has a bit of a lineage that'll trace its way back to UK for decades to come.

Regardless, happy to celebrate the commitment!

If Stoops stay 10 more seasons, he'll be 66. Coen would be 47. I'd say that would be the upper timeframe for both to stay at UK in current positions. I'll guess 8 when the changes could be made with Coen named assistant hc in 5-7 years.

It’s about time for your annual satire post. . . . . It’s an annual rite of passage to watch how many people take it hook, line and sinker.
I see someone else is concerned about DW . . . .

All I’m saying is he tackles opponents just a tad too quickly!

And your concern for spacing is a perfect example!

Start a new post about your concerns before the season with a little satire. I’m going to grab some popcorn and sit back today and watch everyone’s replies.

Hmmm.

Too much foreshadowing for the moment!

I’ll have to wait until that “right moment.”

Thought I saw where two places had Gilmore rated even higher? The guy interviewed said he looks at who all is recruiting a prospect to rate a prospect and he said that all the better schools recruiting this guy he could be considered a five star. No big deal though, will be determined on the field.

Thought he might be related to the Big A because they are both from FL. Big A was born in northern FL and HG was born in southern FL. Could be related down the line somewhere I suppose with there age difference.

It's especially fun to follow now, seeing as how UK has been on a upwards trajectory the last few years.
