I've got to say, I think Gilliam may be one of the best, if not THE best defensive first baseman I have seen consistently. Some of you know I live in Columbia and can walk to Founders park from my house, so I make it to a lot more SC games than I do UK games, and have seen a lot of good first basement at Carolina over the years. I watch a lot of major league baseball too, and I have no idea if Gilliam's bat will take him to the next levels or not, but the dude can flat out play first base and could play at that level in the field right now. I really think his defense over there could be the difference in a couple of our close wins this season. He has made some scoops to end innings that would have resulted in runs scoring and prolonging the inning with a different first baseman over there. Am I alone here, or have you guys noticed the same thing??
