Anyone heard any recent info on this kid? Know he is in Greece playing for a club team(but not getting payed)but states he is playing college hoops this year.

I asked this a while back. Not much info on him but it seems there are a lot of teams interested including St. Johns, UK, KU, Oregon, NC State, Texas, Temple, Maryland, Indiana, Lsu, Pitt, ND, Arizona and Rutgers. Strange list but it comes from several places, no idea where he is actually considering or who still is on him. It seems several teams are interested and actively recruiting him but every source/article lists different teams. Odd that he isn't talked about much, not sure how much we really are involved with him. most of these sources seem to suggest he is planning to play college ball next year, I think I read he would probably pick a school over the summer. One article I read referred to him as a 5 star C. I think he is rated 82 in the 247 composite, 7'1 center. If we could get him, it would provide needed depth at C and give us a true big body. I wouldn't be suprised if he is the type of 7 footer that wants to play on the perimeter, that seems to be the way it goes overseas.

Sounds like he has the potential to be reply good. I guess we shall see where that goes over the next couple months. I wouldn't be suprised to never here a thing about him again or to out of the blue pull the kid. Just never know.

Anyone know anything about this guy or his game? Just based on his European-ness I'm going to guess offensively skilled, slow, and not a great defender.

He's the 11th ranked center in this class according to 247. Apparently down to Maryland and Oregon if he plays college ball. Might be tough for us to get in the mix as he'd probably get quality minutes at either one of those places, but Cal has a track record of getting the most out of his big men that he could sell him on. Don't think a finesse Euro center would really mesh with Cal's style, but you never know.

The 247 crystal ball officially means Jack sh*t to me from here on out.

He would seemingly be behind Diamond Stone at Maryland, like he would be behind Skal here.

There are definitely minutes here for a 5. Maybe a lot of minutes.

This him?

Seen film on him and looks very good. All though you should look good on an edited film! I believe he is 17 right now. Can shoot after crossing midcourt Euro ball. Would be awesome in fast paced transition offense. Haven't any ideal about Cals interest at this point.

Could you imagine? Posters having to deal with two players on the same team with names they can neither spell nor pronounce.

Skul Labasser and Georgo Papa Johnnys

Most recent thing I found was this from about 3 weeks ago.

http://zagsblog.com/articles/greek-7-footer-georgios-papagiannis-could-make-decision-soon/

His coaches believe he's a first-rounder and could decide whether to play pro ball in Greece or whether and where to go to college in June. Never know I guess.

The 7-foot-1 Papagiannis signed a multi-year deal with Greek champion Panathinaikos but has the option to return to the States this summer.

Sounds like an instant 'NO' from the NCAA if he came here.

The deal with the Greek team maintained his amateur status..he was a Maryland verbal commit last year but opened his search back up. Raw talent. Thin. Game is similar to Myles Turner but not as developed offensively. Many teams interested.
