Surprised its not more but you gotta factor in home cookin I guess.Utah is ranked like 7th. What do you expect?
in this case home roastingSurprised its not more but you gotta factor in home cookin I guess.
Not sure about top 15 talent, I think they have only signed two 5* In the last 5 yearsIf the Utah that played Ohio State shows up, they probably win by 3 TDs. AR15 ain't no Stroud and UF's best WR is probably #6 in the Buckeye WR room.
That being said, Utah plays better as an underdog and hasn't done well when respect and ranking is given to them.
Florida still has top 15 talent. If organized and functional, they are every bit within 3 pts of the Utes.
70 degrees on a hot day? I’m not sure about that. But there is a difference between Florida hot and Utah hot. The humidity can be oppressive if you’re not used to it.new staff usually underperform their first couple of weeks against the spread, OTOH you got a team coming from the Rocky Mountains where's it 70 deg on a hot day going into that furnace in Gainesville, and on top of that they get to sit in the sun so there's that.
Coming down to sea level from 4200 feet would make things a tad easier though! But they do play at 5PM MST, so maybe UF can catch ‘em in that awkward time between lunch and dinner.new staff usually underperform their first couple of weeks against the spread, OTOH you got a team coming from the Rocky Mountains where's it 70 deg on a hot day going into that furnace in Gainesville, and on top of that they get to sit in the sun so there's that.
UF is my pick for SEC's surprise '22 team but I'll go with Utah in a close one.Like Dave said, UF is talented. It depends on if the Gators have bought in on Napier or not. If they have it will be a pretty good game I think.

assume he plays... 2-3 weeks to heal a foot injury with no bone or ligament damage.Anyone know if the WR Pearsall is playing for Florida? He’s the one who transferred in from ASU and he’s tough. If he’s out that’s going to hurt them.
Ummm, you know Utah gets hot, right?new staff usually underperform their first couple of weeks against the spread, OTOH you got a team coming from the Rocky Mountains where's it 70 deg on a hot day going into that furnace in Gainesville, and on top of that they get to sit in the sun so there's that.
Yeah but it's no Hattiesburg. But what is?Ummm, you know Utah gets hot, right?
True. Lived in Phoenix for 2 years. I'd take humidity over that crazy heat amy day of the year.Yeah but it's no Hattiesburg. But what is?
It's 4000 feet above sea level there. High temps this time of year average in the low 80s with very low humidity, so admittedly I was a little off with my estimate until I looked it up but still Gainesville is like a furnace in August/early September with high humidity, ask anybody that's been there.Ummm, you know Utah gets hot, right?

Where do you think Ohio State football ranks when it comes to having the most blue-chip talent on its roster this fall? #GoBucksbuckeyeswire.usatoday.com
They come in at #10. No team has won in the playoff that hasn't been on this list yet.
I just feel like its too early to see the results on Napier.Like Dave said, UF is talented. It depends on if the Gators have bought in on Napier or not. If they have it will be a pretty good game I think.

I'm not saying he won't be good Grumpy, I just think his first game is too soon to be considered a make or break game for him. And saying they are talented but the game will be close if they have bought into his system in the first time they've ever played for him is asking a lot against the #7 team in the country. I think we need to pump the breaks and let him have time to develop that talent, before we start making a decision on how good he is.Napier was a hot name for a year or 2. He turned Carolina and AU down, one because they didn't want to give him the support staff he wanted and the other because they wanted to keep a couple assistants. Now both places will say they never offered, but all he had to do was say yes. And yes I know Napier. He was a good G5 coach, but is jumping in with the big Dawgs now.

This is something that is never mentioned... On TV they always talk about when teams go to places like Mile High how they're at such a disadvantage because of the thin air and lack of oxygen. But it works the opposite way, too. When teams like the Broncos, or in this case, Utah, go to somewhere near sea level their body processes oxygen more efficiently and they have much greater endurance.Coming down to sea level from 4200 feet would make things a tad easier though! But they do play at 5PM MST, so maybe UF can catch ‘em in that awkward time between lunch and dinner.
Just so long as they surprise after Week 2, I really don't care. I'm indifferent as to how they do vs Utah. I just want them to lose to us.UF is my pick for SEC's surprise '22 team but I'll go with Utah in a close one.
The game is being played in the evening, so sunshine won't be a factor. But the evening/night air will likely be heavy and humid. The humidity and Florida sunshine will be a shock to any Utah player that hasn't spent much time in the southeastern US.
Not convinced that alone gives Florida a win. They have their own challenges, including an all new coaching staff, but the weather will likely be a factor to some extent.
I understand and generally agree with your point. However, that is quite the exaggeration to say Utah averages in the low 80s this time of year. As a resident of Utah that would be fantastic if it were true. We do get dramatic drops in temperature when the sun sets, so night games would be cooler out here, I suppose. It's 4000 feet above sea level there. Eli brought in 10 of the 19 from GenCon... the rest from ComicCon.With transfer portal recruiting rankings aren't what they use to be. UK has done pretty well with the portal. Mullen did well there too.
On a different note I heard Missouri brought in 19 from the portal, not sure if that is accurate.

Fair enough but the heat out west is a dry heat and doesn't have the same feel. Right now in Gainesville Fl the temp is 92 but with the humidity the real feel is 105. That's what those players are going to experience on Saturday.I understand and generally agree with your point. Elves and wizards in the crosswalks for a week annually around here... though that might be over.last place I expected to see a GenCon reference
