Anybody else excited to see what he can do next year? He was fantastic at times, think he could end up being a great WR.

Hopefully he can have a good year. May be in the return game too. UK needs somebody to make plays at crunch time, eliminate the drops and blown routes and make plays to win games.

I think he'll be 2nd or 3rd on the team for receptions this yr. Maybe not in yds or TDs but receptions.

I'd like for us to try to get him at least 10 touches a game with receptions and kick/punt returns.

From the headline, I thought this was going to be something negative like academics till I opened it.

Stoops said Johnson was the best receiver on the team through the spring. He said that Garrett was making big plays and was the most consistent from day to day. I wouldn't be surprised if he leads the receivers in a few categories next season

timmons, badet and johnson are gonna be our "go to" guys this season imo. we need for one of them to become the man and at least a few other guys have to be threats as well. i think their is plenty of talent and experience at wr this year to expect to have 6 or 8 capable receivers week in and week out. i could see johnson leading us in td's as well.

Two or three go to guys will emerge in this offense. The great thing is that we now have a wealth of talent at the position. I don't know who will step up but Johnson has as good of a chance as anyone. This is the most talented receiver corps, from top to bottom, I can ever remember.

You must not remember the days of Burton, Lyons, Johnson, Tamme, and several serviceable backups like Lanxter. Good times.

And before you say, "Yeah, but Stoops's talent pool...." Don't. We have seen Badet, Timmons, Montgomery, Bone, and Johnson. Nobody else has seen the field that I've been impressed with, so I'm withholding judgement until we see them.

That being said, Badet, Montgomery, Timmons, Johnson, Bone, Baker, Snodgrass, TV, Long, and Conrad could very well become one of the premier receiving corps in the SEC. Only time will tell, however. Lots of speed and talent in those names.

Certainly they aren't as proven as Burton/Tamme years, but this is likely they greatest "on paper" recruited WR corps we've had.

I think Garret Johnson and Blake Bone are heads above the rest of recievers..It will be interesting to see what Badet brings as he's back to full speed and he brings the fastest kid on roster and can make plays on the ball.

With us playing 3 WR sets so often and I think we'll throw it more this year vs. last year...it leaves room for Timmons, Snodgrass, Dorian Baker, etc.. to show their game off as well.

I have no doubt that Johnson is going to be a very good WR this year but I believe that I will wait before I anoint him the best WR on the team. A lot of the WRs were either sitting out the spring recuperating from injuries and surgery and quite a few were banged up to where they could not properly compete. Lets hope we can get most of them healthy for fall camp and the season.

Remember them very well. I'm not 8 years old.

QB play will have a great deal with how your WR look. At UGA we did a great job of hiding Chris Conley, making him look like an average athlete who could only run quick slants. At the combine he ran a 4.35, a verticle of 39 inches and stand broad jump over 11 feet. All of those things point to him being a pretty explosive guy, but our qb play kept that under wraps the entire season, we made him look like a short receiver

Baker is the most talented WR on the roster IMHO, exceptional blocker just needs to grasp how to be an effective route runner.

We've got a lot of good WR on the team, (which is a much welcomed change) but nobody that is an All SEC type....... yet, b/c of youth. I'm hopeful that we will see a couple to emerge a "big time" player.

I wouldn't sleep on Montgomery, if he is healthy. SEC big body that can handle the physicality of the game.

.

Lanxter had 1 reception in 2007...24 total for his career and 1 TD...was excited when he signed, but many of the WRs on the team now have accomplished more than he did already.

I still think the TE position holds the key to us having a successful receiving corp.

Definitely on paper best receiving corp we've had since 07. The potential is there for this to be an extremely difficult offense to stop. I could see us racking up some 50/60 point games against decent opponents. Like grumydawg said though, it comes down to QB. If Towles is as good as I think he's gonna be this year, look out! Might have the most explosive offense in the SEC.

Point being was that our starting receivers showed me more than our entire depth has up to this point. The backups weren't able to be utilized much in 07. After Lyons, Burton, Tamme, and Johnson, the talent and experience dropped off significantly. However, I'd take that group over the group we have right now any day of the week. Now, can that change? Yes.

I fully expect to have at least 3 of these wideouts in the NFL here in a few years. Maybe more. They have to prove it first by showing that they can improve in the offseason. If Baker gets his mechanics down, route-running, and that damn temper of his, we'll be golden. There's a time and place to smack the ish out of someone and that isn't after the guy you are blocking for has gone out of bounds.

Johnson and Timmons. If Timmons can hold onto the ball, we will get the ball to him in space and it'll be good. It'll be aaaaaaalllllll good.

I agree, CatDaddy. With our explosive runners, more talented and experienced wideouts, more experienced OLine, and a TE (finally), we can have one of the strongest showings in the SEC on offense this year if need be.

Towles will, in my opinion, take the leap forward that a lot on this board expect, and if we can stretch the field, which is Towles's strong suit, we can be a damn good offense bordering on great. I think there's far too much inexperience in certain areas and the OLine has plenty of question marks, but we can definitely show flashes of excellence if nothing else. Should be a sight to behold.
