what musicians that have played actors in movies do you consider great? Or actors who also are musicians? Here is a short list of some I think we're great but everyone's list will be different.

1. Jared Leto-Dallas buyers club
Requiem for a dream....etc
2. Mos def-something the lord made
3. Tupac-juice/poetic justice
4. Ice cube-boyz in the hood/Friday
5. George strait-pure country(trying to fill all genres)
6. Eminem-8 mile
7. Robert plant-tommy

Your turn, there is just a few off the top of my head. I know we have tons of posters of all ages so I'm sure there will be frank Sinatra and Elvis on here somewhere. Let's hear em

Musicians by trade who have been great in movies you have seen, or actors by trade who are also known as good musicians. I wouldn't count Russell Crowe because he's not exactly a talented musician. Jared Leto on the other in hand is in 30 seconds to Mars which is a known respected band

Barbara Streisand (don't like her but she is talented)
Harry Connick Jr.
Cher
J Lopez

I just threw tommy in as a joke.

Yes, in a nut shell I was asking what famous people have two trades.

I'll explain it here:

1. Jared Leto is known for acting, but he is a good musician as well. He has two great trades in show business singing acting.

Here's an example of the other side

1. Dwight yoakum is known as a musician but he also played a great actor in sling blade of course.

Basically it cut out actors like cruise, hanks, dicaprio, Lewis etc who are just known for acting or being crazy(no offense tom cruise you were great in tropic thunder)

Bing Crosby, Fred Astaire, Gene Kelley
Harpo and Chico Marx
Bill Henderson (jazz singer/actor)
Bobby Troup (wrote the standard Route 66)
Irene Dunne (could have been an opera singer)
Paul Robeson
Sid Caesar (started showbiz as a saxophone player)

In the other direction Richard Dreyfuss and Richard Gere are excellent pianists.

Kristofferson has to be on this list. Was a pretty huge movie star for a decade and won a Golden Globe for Best Actor. Also wrote some of the best songs ever, was an Army Captain and a Ranger, a helicopter pilot , an All American Rugby player, a Rhodes Scholar and remarried at almost 50 and fathered 5 more kids and has lived to see them all grow into adulthood. .

He was a sailor too wasn't he? Born upon the tide right? He may have given that up after that rough journey around the horn of Mexico in that schooner where he was nearly killed. He's living still though. Good to hear.

My favorite of all time has got to be Jerry Reed. Loved him in the Smokey and the Bandit films, not to mention 'Hot Stuff' and 'The Waterboy'.

Best ever though has got to be Barbra Streisand, Bette Midler, or Cher. All three have either won an Academy Award for acting or been nominated multiple times.

I am going to nominate Shaq for worst of all time. His combination of crappy music (Shaq Diesel) and bad acting (Kazam) is virtually unrivaled for its level of failure. He absolutely sucks as both and actor and "artist".

KK and Dwight Yoakum were the first two that came to my mind as well.

With all the BS in this thread I am not sure if it was intended to be humor - but Daltry and The Who were in Tommy - not Plant of LZ - but of course everyone knew that.

Going to see them this Saturday in Lou - reviews have been great all across the tour.
