Besides the Utah ranking at #7 and Florida unranked to start the season.

#24 UT on the road at #17 Pitt and yet the orange is favored by 6...?

Top 10 (#9) Baylor @ #21 BYU and BYU is favored by 3. Should they be top ten if they are likely to beat a #21 ranked team by only 3 on a neutral field? Does anyone here believe that a top 7-8 team in the SEC wouldn't beat Baylor by 3 or BYU by at least 6 on a neutral site?
Out of AU, AL, OM, A&M, UGA, UK, UF, UT....

Either Baylor should beat them by 14-21 or they don't belong in the top 10 over as many SEC teams as would beat them.

Seems pretty silly

I’m amused at early rankings, especially in cfb. Really shows the talking heads don’t know anymore than anyone else, but get paid to spout about it. That’s ok, I’d take the money to do so too. Nice to see them get burned though every year.

Also shows how desperate the are for conference parity and setting other teams up w good position for a playoff run minus 1 hiccup.

They don’t want to come out and make 7 of the top 10 SEC teams

Which is what makes the rankings all year so fooked. A loss to an SEC team by another SEC team shouldn't drop either very far when compared to the rest of CFB, but it does every year. Kept there from being 2 SEC teams in the playoff too many times.

Watching the Tennessee and Pitt game, I can see why Tennessee is favored, their QB is good and they have playmakers

The second week of college football is the money maker week if you are a gambler because of all of the over reactions after the first week, when most teams played non-power 5 opponents. I will say that the Florida performance and line is fair because they beat a good Utah team that did well last year and had plenty of returning players. But otherwise, have at it. Money can be made this week. 2nd week is generally the best week of the year for making money on stupid lines.

The closest thing we have to "experts" are the oddsmakers in Vegas. They should put out a Top25 every week. There's a reason Vegas never goes broke.

I'm not amused by it, because our lack of an early ranking has kept us from getting bigger bowl games in the past.

They overrank teams in the ACC and PAC 12 in an effort to pretend those conferences are relevant.

Rankings are not necessarily useless. But they are totally useless in September.

Rankings early in the year especially mean nothing. Not breaking any new ground here.

The thing about going into the Florida game for Kentucky is they had to play a ranked team and had to show a lot on film to win. The flip side Kentucky didn’t have to. I think Brad White will scheme the hell out of this game and I’m starting to rethink my prediction 🍺
