I was rewatching the game and noticed this was the key stretch of this Vandy game. At the under-4 media timeout, the score was 27-24 in favor of UK. At the 15:43 mark of the 2nd half, Vandy is forced to call timeout and the score is 48-30. It was lights out at that point. During that stretch, we played some great basketball. We had multiple assists from multiple players. We were making the extra pass for better shots. We were making open shots. The defense was very solid. Vandy made 2 long threes in that stretch, but there was nothing available going to the goal. They never got closer than 11 the rest of the way.

I was having issues with my TV and turned it off between 18mins and 15mins in second half. We went up from like 9 to 18 in that short period of time.

That fella threw in a couple of miracle shots or UK wins by 25.

Yep, it was another 3 from Wallace in the corner, then a jump hook by Oscar in the lane, then a put back dunk by Livingston, and then a run-out alley-oop that Toppin caught and then laid in- on 4 consecutive possessions.

Yep, Malik Dia came into the game having made 7 threes on the season and made 4 last night. He came in having shot 7-22 from 3 on the season for 32% and he shot 4-5 last night for 80%. It always happens. Someone has their career day against us.

Agreed....Uk was super last night.

To be honest...the Center for Vandy that hit those threes that he hit like 8 for the entire year....2 of them were covered extremly well and he just hit them.

The players were sharp, attention to detail on pick and rolls, rebounding as a team with Toppin/Wallace, etc..helping down on rebounds, etc...

Superb effort

Wallace hitting those 2 3s to start the second half was huge, it opened things up for Kentucky and allowed for them to get out in transition

Agree. But what the hell happened the last 5 and a half minutes? 2 points in that span? That’s terrible and will be an issue if happens in most games. Can’t take the air out of the ball.
We have to run an offense to score. We just don't have the guy you can give the ball to after burning 20 seconds and he goes and makes the play for a score.

Fredrick popping his threes completely opens up our offense and panics the defense. And it dumps bunches of points into our ledger which stretches the lead. If he shoots 40% from three we shouldn't lose again.

I do think UK gave too many lay ups. Maybe I'm nit picking, but seemed like a lot to me.
Not a nitpick IMO...it's a legitimate concern.

Unfortunately I think it's just something we'll have to deal with with this team. We don't have a rim protector, and, like Vandy, we will see more teams spread the floor and keep more players above the free throw line to lure Oscar away from the basket to open up driving lanes.

If our offense is clicking then we can still win games despite this, but if we aren't getting it done on that end of the floor one night, we can easily pick up an L.

I think last night was some of the prettiest basketball I’ve seen from a Kentucky team in awhile…besides that small streak last year when we blew Tennessee and Kansas out..
