From the Annals of History

Re: From the Annuls of History

Thanks for that OP, remember it well. Seiple was a great player. He also did that in the NFL.

If the dumb camera man had scanned about halfway up the stands on about the 30 yard line I might have been able to pick myself out of the crowd. LOL

Only thirty some thousand at Stoll Field back then, but I will never forget the roar of the crowd when he took off, and it just kept building.

I was also at that game. Can't remember the year however. My guess would be 62/63? As I remember things UK not only beat a highly ranked Ole Miss team but then defeated a highly ranked Auburn the next weekend.

Unfortunately, the dream ended with Freddie Biletnikoff and FSU the next weekend. Well maybe the dream ended in Houston.

I was at the game Larry Seiple took off on fourth down. Everyone in the stadium wa stunned. I am also acquainted with Mike Fanuzzi who lives in San Antonio. He has great stories about his years at UK. His son was a highly rated high school quarterback at Churchill High School som years ago. Joker made a half hearted attempt to recruit him to UK. The young man wound up at Rice after transferring from Alabama.

Great posts by everyone.

I remember listening to, I think, Claude Sullivan describe this play. If I recall correctly, Coach Bradshaw wasn't happy about it. For that matter, he wasn't happy about much of anything.
