Some of this is a few days old but it got an overly positive response on HOB so I figured I'd bring it over here too and add some new things that I've heard over the past few days

The staff believes we have at least 4 sure fire next level guys catching the ball this year.

WR has been the most impressive group by far. Juice, badet, timmons, and Baker are all really good players. Baker has really stood out since the pads went on.

Flannigan is going to be the big surprise of the defense. Forrest will be much improved which is nothing new. Mike Edwards may end up splitting some time at corner due to his cover ability and the fact that the seniors are just so limited athletically. Kengera Daniel may be a kid they can't keep off the field although they'd like to redshirt him. LB is our biggest concern, mainly depth...

They knew the recievers would be good, but not this good this quickly. Guys that haven't been mentioned at all come out of nowhere to have big days(Bone),

Also the staff is elated with the overall level of fitness right now.

Stoops is doing everything in his power to find and develop a boundary corner. They believe Chris Westry is a first round talent and at 6'4" running in the mid 4.4s I'm not sure there are many CBs around like him from a pure talent standpoint. Think of it like Karl Towns this year in basketball, he struggled at times early but you could see how talented he was, then by the end of the season he put everything together and was dominant. I would expect Westry to follow this path and to start getting press clippings...this would be huge for recruiting.

Forgot to add ---> expect us to have over 20 picks as a team this year. These guys are not being taught to play soft coverage(IE keep everyone in front of you, which allows a bunch of easy quick outs and dump offs), they're being taught that if the ball is coming your way GO TAKE IT. There's a very big emphasis on keeping proper technique while letting your instincts take over when the ball is in the air.

Also expect more CB/S blitzs this year. We were too unathletic last year at CB to do much of it, and the guys at S were both first year starters that had other things they needed to focus on. We have enough speed/depth in the secondary to do this effectively. Big ? here is whether the freshman corners can be physical enough.

Hatcher is eating people up and should have 5+ sacks and 10+ TFL if he can keep focused on football.

The injuries are *not* a big deal...these are the typical dings that come with playing football and if it were a game week all of these guys would be playing.

Thanks for sharing. If by sure fire next level you mean Johnson, Badet, Timmons, and Baker are sure to play in the NFL, I would say to you that Baker is most likely but the other 3 will have to overcome their size disadvantage to play on Sundays. Small receivers can make it in the NFL, but almost never sure fire. You mentioned linebackers. On paper, our linebackers are 1 of the most improved areas on our team. In practice, injuries and illnesses have been devastating. Flannigan hurt his shoulder and is in a sling. Staff says it isn't major, but shoulder injuries can linger for linebackers. More worrisome because Jordan Jones will miss the next several weeks and nothing encouraging has happened with Courtney Love. On the outside, it hurts not having Hatcher and Walker. I remain optimistic about a bowl bid, but everyone should understand the absence of Hatcher and a less than 100% Flannigan could make a difference in the South Carolina game. A lot of pressure rests on Firios and Ware. Another linebacker injury could become a real serious problem.

Flanigan was out of the sling today, did not participate.

The guys they were referring to as next level were: Conrad, Boom, Baker, and Juice. Boom is going to catch quite a few passes out of this offense. Juice is small but has the Randall Cobb IT factor.

According to JDrum Westry had a INT and PBU today.

This kid has *SO* much potential...

He's got first round talent, top 5 size, and has a chance to quite literally change the game at corner with his size.

I think UK has either the first or second best WR corp in the SEC East for 2015. Those guys are solid and the position is deep.

I think you are right, Cooper at USC is probably better right now than anyone at UK, but they don't have anyone else. The kid at UF is good but they are in the same shape as USC. Malcome Mitchell if healthy is very good, but apparently the other starter went down Monday and no one else on the roster has more than a handful of snaps, lots of speed but no experience. I don't know who Vandy has, Missouri will put some guys out there who can produce. UT has a roster full of highly rated kids, should be the best but they haven't really put up any big numbers yet. But UK and UT are going to put the most career catches on the field in the openers at WR.

How's Georgia looking at WR? I figure that breaking in a new QB may mean the rushing attack will be the backbone of that offense this season.

Justin Scott-Wesley hurt his knee yesterday on a non contact injury, so not likely good news on him. Mitchell has looked good, McKensie tweaked a hamstring earlier and just returned today, Reggie Davis is blistering fast but he really hasn't done much and is a rising jr. Looks like 3 frosh are going to play, alot, Godwin has picked up the offense and looked very good, big playmaker, Chigbu is a big guy, not fast but big wingspread very good hands and Stanley a taller guy for us with very good speed, all 3 will play alot. Still no leader at qb, but whoever it is will be a step up from last year, but running the ball will be the strength of the offense

Having complete brain fart, but who is juice?

I know I am getting old, but you can't even remember your own name?

Just giving you a hard time, hard to keep all the names straight.

Great opening post, thanks.

Robinson is one of two 6.0s Joker brought in at Florida in 13, not sure what happened to the other one, also a 5.9 WR. Robinson and Cooper both have a years experience on our WR;s (except for Timmons), and only Baker of the four listed in the OP was a four star, more proof of our staff's recruiting. We also have two more four stars in that class that have gotten rave reviews earlier, Bone and Snodgrass, both with good size. And of course Conrad has NFL potential, now at 245#, and expected to help out this year.

Things are definitely looking up.

Yep UK has brought in some good players at WR and DB for sure. Our ex WR coach might have been the best WR coach in the country but he couldn't get a hound dog to come to a bowl of gravey. He left for LSU during the off season and our RB coach moved to WR coach, hopefully we can bring some better prospects in, and we are in the top 2-3 for a couple of kids, but who knows if we can get them. We have never been able to recruit WR for some reason or the other and its been that way for years, outside of AJ Green we have missed on all our top targets at that position.

Thanks for the info on the skill positions--very encouraging. Sounds like the talent and athleticism are there. But what about the fundamentals--blocking, tackling, getting off blocks, getting separation, catching the ball, etc.?

Also, IMHO, FB games are still won or lost at the line of scrimmage. Any word on how the OL and DL are progressing??? Improvement there, and lots of it, is the key to moving up in the SEC pecking order.

I agree with weepNoMore we have to be stronger up front on both line's. I am tired of seeing our line give up long run's like salts threw a widow woman. Beef up front is the place to start and great fundamentals. Do we have the coaches that have that ability? I think we do. and we should start to see that this year. I look for more of the same from here on.
Our skilled guy's are as good as any team in the SEC. We have one of the top classes of receivers, if not the top. We will all find our in a few weeks. The rb's are equally as good. Wow, the te position is looking like the Tammes (spl)
Keep the faith, we will have an excellent year.
Go BB

Thanks, I still believe WR is our best position on the field and we need to pass as much as possible to those guys.

I just want to see us get the ball into the hands of our play makers and let them make plays. I don't think we can grind it out and I don't think we can wait on long developing plays. Good news is I think we have several play makers.

These next couple weeks are going to drag bye. I'm so excited, I can't stand it!
Agree,it seems these last couple of weeks are going by more slowly than usual,I believe we will compete in most every game this year and we will be better than most of the 'experts' seem to think. We need to get to a bowl game this year(for several reasons)I've been around since the Blanton Collier days and I think we may be on the verge of being on more solid ground than we have atany time during that period.(yes I know about 76'and 77' but we were on borrowed time with Curci)

None of these 4 are sure fire NFL players, although all of them will have a chance. Conrad is a true freshman and the other 3 are true sophomores. It's way too early to talk about the NFL. I like Johnson but your comparison of him to Cobb is a nonstarter, also unfair to the kid. Cobb was an All American. Johnson is a good player but not in Cobb's league.

These are opinions from within the program not my personal opinion. Of course it may be exaggerated, everyone is bias towards their own guys but the main point is that we have talent here that we've not seen in a long time. Remember this staff sees them nearly every day so theyve got a pretty good idea of what they've got in regards to natural ability, work ethic, and rate of improvement.

Some of you have asked about Oline ---> I don't have a solid read on info here. Keep forgetting to ask and it's a group that my source very rarely works with. My opinion is that we will be fine here, generally when you return that kind of experience they come back significantly improved and the value of a top level center which we have in Toth is way understated.

Another thing that has not been mentioned is this bunch has a lot of leaders in it. Last year the coaches were virtually begging guys to lead and this year every position group has a veteran that is reaching out to/teaching the young guys. This is something that should really help us to close out games.
