I know we have the combined thread, but I think this one deserves a thread.

17-3 with 11:23 in the third . . . make that 24-3 . . . Florida looks timid and confused on the road.

We boat race them in Lexington this year.

Utah finished 27th in team defense last year (we finished 11th). Florida making them look top 10.

The play calling the first half was inventive but
ineffective due to personnel. The play calling in the 2nd half seems to be “let’s get the heck out of Salt Lake City without embarrassing ourselves”.

That sounds like a Stoops type move that has a tendency to have the same results. One of my very few gripes about our Coach. I hope this is a year we have the weapons to not let off the gas and make a statement.

Florida looks terrible. I knew 5 and 0 was most likely outcome but it would be embarrassing if we aren't 5 and 0 going into Athens at this point.

Utah plays Baylor next. Starting the season with Florida and Baylor. That is a manly start to the season. I don’t know how good Florida is, but the Utes looked good last night controlling that game.

Those were their best plays of the night. They threw to the TE, RB and Pearsall on the sideline throughout the second half when Utah was playing to contain.

Florida's only touchdown came after a fourth down pass was ruled a catch. If that was a catch, I don't know anything about what makes a catch a catch. The nose of the football hit the ground and did a 180 before he secured it again.

Mertz has certain qualities as a QB that haven't changed in multiple years.

1. He will throw a beautiful pass. "Woah!" Eye opener. Gimme some more of that!
2. He'll then throw 2-3 that are some combination of off target, fast ball when he needed touch, or just a flat out miss.
3. Then he'll stand in the pocket like a deer in headlights and eat a sack or 2.
4. Go back to step and repeat steps 1-4 again and again and again.

Florida Oline resembled ours last year which is not good when you have a tentative QB too. Pearsal and the freshman #3 are really good but if they cant shore up that line and run the ball some they are going to struggle.

I’m not sure Mertz has the feel for dink and dunk. He’ll float a screen and it’ll be off to the races for a DB. Just like AR-15 did.

Thanks to Disney and Spectrum I didn't get to watch the game. But it went about as I expected it to go. Mertz wasn't great at Wisconsin not sure why UF fans were expecting alot better with him plying behind a mix and match OL. One thing being forgotten Utah was plying without their top 2 offensive players. 4-8 is their ceiling

Same. Just cut the cord today. Signed up for Hulu live TV/Disney+/ESPN+ deal that will save me about $100/m.

UF looked pretty ordinary but Mertz wasn't why they lost. He threw for 300+, has 3 really good WRs including Piersall who'll play Sundays and a nice looking true frosh. They showed ZERO running game, very poor OL play(gave up 5 sacks) and really poor STs. 4-8 may be generous.

Utah is Top 15. Cam Rising, who missed the UF game with an injury, is one of the top QBs in college football and their coach, Kyle Whittingham, is as good as anybody around.

Stoops is 57-4 when leading after 3 Qtrs. Whatever he is doing works.
