Yeah the game will be won or lost on 2nd chance points- that much is clear to me I think.

I completely agree. Could be the difference in the game tomorrow- we need his toughness and experience tomorrow.

What I find crazy is the ****ers still haven't gave him a true shot in the NBA yet to rebound the damn ball and show that he's the greatest rebounder on the planet. They keep sticking him in the g League. Bunch of shit how Oscars been done. 💯

Florida is averaging 45 rebounds a game. We haven't surpassed 40 rebounds in one game, Bubba.

The number 6 team in the country that's a legit number 6 is coming down there and they better play their best damn game and they better get 50 rebounds that matter cuz if not they're losing...

I worry more about UF having an emphasis on transition defense. If we can't get out and run, Cal will be all too willing to slow down and play half court offense. Granted, Florida likes to run, but if they run and then get back on D effectively, that could spell trouble for our guys.

Well it's more about making Florida miss THEIR first shots and cleaning up the glass!
We gave up 24 Off Rebs to Illinois State, BUT it only led to 12 2nd Chance Points.
While not ideal, we can give up some Offensive Boards and still be okay as long as we recover and protect the rim.
Or, we can control the glass like we did against UNC.
Or we could get punked in our first true road game and get out-physicaled for 40 minutes.
I truly have no idea, but I have a feeling we'll know after the first 8 minutes of the game which type of game we are going to get.

I just wish we would not get behind at the start of the game like we have been doing in most of the games we have played this year.

I'm not worried about our offense in the half court if it comes to that. If we lose tomorrow, it will be because of our defense and not because of anything UF's defense does.
Well, a lot goes into that 45 rbs per game, like how their opponent shot percentage wise. You hit shots, there are fewer rebounds to be had. We just need to be on fire hitting shots, and also not shooting before the rest of the team is down the court and at least in some semblance of rebounding position.
If we lose, I believe it will be because we aren't hitting shots, much like UNCW. We need to score first and foremost. I think we can outscore anyone in the country, but we still need better defense, for sure.
First 8 minutes of most of our games so far haven't been horribly impressive. It's the second half of the first half, and the opening 8 minutes of the second half, or more when Shep and Dillingham come in.
Also, we are going to NEED blocking from Onyenso, especially if UF gets offensive rebounds from misses. This is one area I think we are all overlooking as a requirement to win. Hit shots, play at least decent defense, and block shots on first and second attempt put backs.
We hit over 50% of our shots from the field, while our opposition has shot about 41% and still have more rebounds on average than our opponent. No, it’s clearly not a strength, but it’s not the weakness some are making it out to be after we played a team that had to scratch and claw for every rebound to try to keep it within 40. Truth is, we got lazy against a far inferior opponent. It’s something that needs to be learned from and Cal is right in emphasizing it, but the hand wringing needs to stop.

Odd take. The guy played 4 years of college ball, got his degree, and was ready for the next step. No one ran him out. If he wanted to continue with college, he’d be on the team this year.
