Florida @ Kentucky (Saturday)

About an hour before we step between the lines. This one will be intense. UK players will still be very angry at the disrespect UF showed them and their late teammate Ben Jordan.

Only six tickets left on Stubhub. Hopefully we have a decent crowd. If I’m a UK player today and I hit a homer, I’m flipping the hell out my bat.

Grounder to second starts us off. Lewis makes easy work of it.

Headrick says every UK position player is wearing orange wrist tape. Not sure the meaning exactly. I'll let you know if I hear.

Triple as Hill dives in center and can't get to a ball. Took a bit of a bad angle to it as it faded away from him.

Those wrist bands are pink and not orange, so they are a Mother's Day nod.

UK pressing a bit too much I think. They go down in pretty quick order in the bottom of the first.

Gators lead 1-0 going to the second.

Lee struggling to pitch strikes. He starts with a full count grounder up the middle and then gets a line drive to right. Rhodes catches it, but it was an adventure as he almost over ran it and had to jump to catch it. Lee then falls behind 3-0, catches a strike and then hits the batter. Right off the ankle. Runners at 2nd and first and 1 out.

Holy hell. Ground ball is an easy out to the inning. Lewis is on it and it bounces off 2nd base and goes into right center. Right over his head. UF scores a run. I can't cuss enough at that.

Line drive to right to end the inning.

0-2 Florida

Have often said I'd rather be lucky than good.

Kessler and Anu both draw full counts. Kess flies out to left center and Anu draws a walk. Wild pitch advances Anu to second. Ritter strikes out swinging. Lewis gets hit on an 0-2 pitch. O'Sullivan out to talk to the pitcher before he faces Hill.

Hill strikes out swinging. He didn't see the slider very well in that at bat. Needs to make that adjustment.

Going to the third with UF up 2-0.

Lee struggling a bit. He givers up a base hit to right and then a walk. Then he gets a grounder to third and Estep fields, steps on third and throws the runner out at first for a double play!! They are going to review, but I think he got him easily.

Line drive into center and Hill comes up firing to the plate and they call him safe, but I think he may be out. They are going to review. Armstrong's foot stuck in the turf before it ever touched the plate. I don't know that he ever touched the plate.

They call him safe. I think they are wrong on that. Way wrong. His foot never touched the plate. At all. Hill in center is mad, he saw the replay and saw what I saw, but they apparently didn't see it down in Hoover.

Calilao is killing UK. He had the home run last night and he is 2-2 today, with an RBI and a run scored.

Degen up in the pen. He may already be ready as he is standing there watching.

Lee walks a batter but then gets a grounder to Lewis to end the T3.

3-0 UF.

Sounds like SEC baseball replay is about as pathetic as SEC football replay.

Holy hell... UK catches even more bad luck as Estep hits one up the middle and it bounces either funny or bounces off the bag but as it hits the turf it spins right to the short stop and he fields cleanly and throws out Estep. If that thing stays on its trajectory then it is a single, but the spin on it, or the fact that it hit the bag, turned that into an out.

Schultz then strikes out looking.

Collett hits one a long way, but it goes to the warning track in left and finds a glove.

UK hitless through three innings, down 3-0 to the Gators, going to the fourth.

Probably a lot worse actually. It is less transparent because they go to Hoover for the replay instead of the umpires in the park looking at it. They also have fewer camera angles and we don't see a million reviews of it on TV where it is slowed down and all of that stuff.

They just showed the replay of the slide into home and I am still mad about it. Guy never even touched home. He was freaking out.

Lee still struggling to throw strikes and the UF leadoff hitter gets on for the third inning in a row as Lee walks him.

Another bad break for UK as a line drive to Ritter bounces off his glove as he dives for it. A catchable ball, but he just can't get it. May not have even needed to dive for it. So now there are 2 on and no outs. If UK played a normal double play depth then it is right at Ritter. Not sure why UK wasn't in that.

Deep fly ball to Hill in center. Both runners tag up to move them into scoring position. Not sure that Hill expected them to run to second on him.

UK decides to intentionally walk Fabian.

Lee gets a pop up to Estep for out number 2.

Roszel out there to talk to Lee with the bases loaded and 2 outs.

Grounder to Lewis almost turns into a disaster as he turns to second to go the easy route, but Ritter wasn't covering. He tried to take it himself, but realized he'd be late and he turns quickly back to first to beat the runner with the throw by a half step.

A lot of stuff happening, but no damage done. 0-3 UF, going to the bottom 4.

Rhodes hit by a pitch. UK needs to take advantage of this here.

Kessler lines a full count pitch over short stop and into left and UK has their first hit and runners on second and first with no outs.

Anu grounds sharply to short and he can't handle it cleanly, but he gets Anu at first.

O'Sullivan out to talk to his pitcher after a 1-1 count to Ritter.

Ritter a bit long on his swing in this at bat. He has two strikes, needs to shorten it up. Well, doesn't matter... he doesn't swing at all and looks at strike 3.

Lewis falls behind in the count and he chops one to the pitcher and they say that the pitcher tags Lewis on the swinging bunt. Lewis kind of jumped away to try to avoid the tag and the home plate umpire called him out. First base didn't see it because it was on the back.

Mingione out... showing a touch of emotion, but is pretty reserved IMO.

UK is super upset about this as Lewis says he wasn't tagged and they are going to call him out regardless. UK basically refusing to take the field, or doing so slowly. Mingione gets warned.

Lee 4 pitches and all balls to start the 5th.

Roszel out to talk to Lee. Home plate umpire forces Roszel to make a pitching change as Roszel only gets a moment to speak to his pitcher. Degen will be the choice. Lee had thrown 86.

Don’t think it would have mattered as they didn’t have a camera angle that would give view to clearly overturn the call on the field.

Lee just wasn't sharp. About half his pitches were balls. Part of that was that many were close and he just didn't get the benefit of the doubt on it.

First pitch swinging, Rivera hits one into left for a single. Runners at first and second, 0 outs.

Full count with a back and forth on balls and strikes to the UK 8 hole hitter. Hudepohl up in the UK pen.

Dropped ball by Schultz in left field. He just over ran it. Thought he'd have to dive for it, but got caught between the dive and the easy catch. Routine play that Schultz fails to make. They score it a hit... it was really an error though. It loads the bases.

Degen gets a strikeout for the first out of the inning.

We go to the top of the order, so a dangerous spot.

Fly ball to center. Gators tag and Hill's throw pulls Kessler up the line and UF scores to make it 4-0.

Degen gets out of the jam with a strikeout. Florida gets another run, they just keep chipping away and getting runs. We go to the bottom of the 5th with UK down 4-0.

Hill grounds out to second for the first out of the inning.

Estep taken down for Harmon. He strikes out swinging.

Schultz singles to second. A hard hit grounder that bounces off the second baseman and Schultz legs it out. It was a liner that one hopped the second baseman and just ate him up.

Collett also strikes out to end the third.

UK isn't out of this, but it feels like it is a game that is a long reach away. We're down 4 to 0 going to the 6th. Still plenty of time for UK to bring this back, but they need to change things in a hurry.

Grounder to Church who is now playing 3rd for Estep is out number one. Next pitch is lined to center, but Hill brings it in.

Degen works ahead, but can't get the competitive strikeout pitch and walks a batter after a full count.

The thorn in UK's side now up in Calilou. He's got a couple hits, a walk and he's scored several times today. Also hit the home run last night to put UF up for good. Degen does it again. Works ahead and then can't throw that strikeout pitch and runs it full. One of them might have been on Kessler not framing the pitch. Still, Degen gets a grounder to third and Church plays it cleanly and makes the out to end the T6.

0-4 UF

UF pitcher gets Rhodes to pop up to shallow right for the first out. He has 90 pitches.

Kessler strikes out looking. Same spot that UK didn't get a K called last night to end the game.

Anu strikes out swinging.

Going to the 7th with UK down 4-0.

I wonder how long UF will ride this pitcher. He is close to 100, but he's dominating UK hitters.
